Everything up to the "Press scape to start" message loads up fine, after i hit space the screen goes black it loops a seconds worth of audio and crashes.
Anyone know what's up and how i can sort it?
Thanks

Maaaybe changing the audio reverb to off will avoid some incompatibility. Also, change the DX10 details to off. Just long shots, disable your antivirus and your firewall, too, while you're at it.

And if it still crashes, then you're allowed to use the worst language you can and let everyone around you know.

EDIT:
You can also try to force dx9 mode launching with the -dx9 parameter

Go to BioShock 2\SP\Content\BinkMovies and prelude_intro.bik to prelude_intro.txt the game should work

It seems to be a single-core problem (again)! Like in most games nowadays the bink movies are not working with a single-core CPU even though the game itself would work fine. That's pretty frustrating. Sad
I guess there's nothing we can do. Maybe they will patch it because the minimum requirements say it's supposed to work on single-core CPUs.

Post on their forums, they'll release a patch soon. Afterwards, you can forget about any more support I guess, lol, this is your only chance.

EDIT: Have you tried an older binkw32.dll version ? Like 1.9.1.0 ?

There's a patch being tested now. Only fix I know of is the FOV for widescreen users though.

turn high quality shader off if you have certain ati card (like it makes any difference, game is ugly as hell Very Happy ) it removes *THAT* particular problem with this game, but theres too much other problems :s

I tried the one from Bioshock 1 but the game didn't even start with it.
Aren't they custom-made for each game? I think that's the case.

I can't believe it - after two patches this is still not fixed!! Even though the system requirements clearly state a single core CPU as minimum.
Exactly the same is true for Aliens vs Predator as well. These lazy devs and publishers lie about their system requirements and don't do anything to fix the problem. They should be sued by a paying customer! (that means not by me Laughing)

You misunderstood something. I'm bitching about their lies and nothing else. And besides what's wrong with playing new games on an old PC as long as they work perfectly? Bioshock 2 would work perfectly if there wouldn't be this stupid problem with the bink movies. In-game performance is fine.

single core is the past, u can get quad for less than a 100, finding 2nd hand dc would be like around 20 euro? if u can't afford a new one that is. lazy ppl i tell ya
what works perfectly pliz do tell?
might as well get 360 which will deliver better performance for smaller buck, that is if u don't mind to play fps with a controller Cool Face

You're talking shit. There are no new dual cores available for socket 939 - no one sells them anymore. The only place where you can get a used one is Ebay and an A64 X2 4600+ for example costs at least 80 Euro. 20 Euro - ha ha you really have no clue at all! Rolling Eyes
And now please shut up if you don't have anything useful to say. I'm not here to argue with idiots who think it's alright when companies lie about their products.

p.s. oh and companies always lie so they would be able to sell their shit, where have u've been living for the past 10 years, berlin? Razz
