Everything up to the "Press scape to start" message loads up fine, after i hit space the screen goes black it loops a seconds worth of audio and crashes.
Anyone know what's up and how i can sort it?
Thanks

My magic ball says it's a driver problem.

Maaaybe changing the audio reverb to off will avoid some incompatibility. Also, change the DX10 details to off. Just long shots, disable your antivirus and your firewall, too, while you're at it.
And if it still crashes, then you're allowed to use the worst language you can and let everyone around you know.
EDIT:
You can also try to force dx9 mode launching with the -dx9 parameter

Go to BioShock 2\SP\Content\BinkMovies and prelude_intro.bik to prelude_intro.txt the game should work

Post on their forums, they'll release a patch soon. Afterwards, you can forget about any more support I guess, lol, this is your only chance.
EDIT: Have you tried an older binkw32.dll version ? Like 1.9.1.0 ?

There's a patch being tested now. Only fix I know of is the FOV for widescreen users though.

turn high quality shader off if you have certain ati card (like it makes any difference, game is ugly as hell ) it removes *THAT* particular problem with this game, but theres too much other problems :s

I tried the one from Bioshock 1 but the game didn't even start with it.
Aren't they custom-made for each game? I think that's the case.

You misunderstood something. I'm bitching about their lies and nothing else. And besides what's wrong with playing new games on an old PC as long as they work perfectly? Bioshock 2 would work perfectly if there wouldn't be this stupid problem with the bink movies. In-game performance is fine.
