Ubisoft will release World Rally Championship 2011 on 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this October.
It's the first mention of a new WRC game since Ubisoft acquired UK publishing rights to the series last month.
World Rally Championship developer Milestone opts for a realistic approach to rallying, turning its bonnet up at the arcade Gymkhana antics of Codemasters' DiRT 3.
WRC FIA World Rally Championship cruised a 7/10 last year from Eurogamer's Joao Diniz Sanches, who expected big things from a follow-up: "A little more time spent in the service area fine-tuning its various elements and next year's edition could be spraying the bubbly while standing on the bonnet of its achievement."
Ubisoft's latest schedule also confirms a couple of other titles for later this year. A dance game tie-in for BBC ballroom series Strictly Come Dancing will release this November for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Will we be able to play as Anne Widdecome? The mind boggles.
Unfortunately Milestone is still the developer (and we all remember how disappointing WRC 2010 was). Let's hope they work hard to give us a proper -realistic- rally game..
Seeing as how they "improved" their other franchise (SBK) during the last couple of years, with WRC 2011 we can expect 4-5 new stages and some new skins, obviously at full price
Game is named WRC 2 now and it will be released somewhere end of October.
Quote:
WRC 2 packs all the proper real-life drivers and cars, plus has 90 stages, 15 locales and 25 different terrain and weather combinations. Let's reiterate that: 25 different terrain and weather combinations.
There are nine car categories, ranging from vintage 1960s models to modern day monster motors, 16-player online races and a revamped Career.

Beat that derp masters!
Here is teaser: (nothing special tho)
Here is Acropolis presentation:
They mentioned the stages/terrains but didn't say anything about the driving model (which was quite terribad in WRC 2010 and needs to be fixed asap), I'm expecting yet another big disappointment from the lazy couple Black Bean-Milestone
• National Geographic: Challenge! –2011 for PlayStation®3, PC May 12 and Wii™ June 16
• Let’s Dance with Mel B - June 16 2011 for Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 and Wii™
• WRC – World Rally Championship 2 (October 2011) for Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 and PC
• Strictly Come Dancing (Autumn 2011) for Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 and Wii™
While many people had hoped Black Bean would be moving more towards realism with the second version, it seems like the Italian studio is heading quite in the opposite direction as Latina explains:
“WRC was pretty good, the driving model was absolutely fine, but the general graphical standard was generating criticism, both in the media and WRC followers and racing game fans. So we decided to improve the game dramatically in that area,” he says. “70% of our effort has gone into improving the graphics.”
Aside from graphic improvements, Black Bean also plans on making the title more accessible as Latina comments: “A realistic game can’t be too frustrating, too hard to play; it can’t be too close to simulation.”
There’s no word on whether or not the new version will not just improve the stage graphics but also the unrealistic stage design that plagued its predecessor.
It wouldn't be bad if it actually was playable... I haven't played a good racing game for quite a while now.
But, nah!, this won't be good. Not with Ubisoft.
I little disagree on that.I mean Dirt3 is little fail for me too after big hype about it but at least its not so bad for play. And yes,it has at least good graphics.WRC doesnt even have that .
