Checklist
Make sure you've done everything in this checklist before you create a new thread
- I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers for all of my hardware.
- I've tried shutting of AA (AntiAliasing) and AF (Anisotropic Filtering).
- I've tried all resolutions all the way down to 800*600 or even lower if it exists.
- I've checked for any patches available for the game and applied them.
- I've downclocked my computer after running overclocked.
- I've tried cleaning and defragging the registry.
- I've checked that my BIOS is up to date.

Can Valve Trace Me?
FYI- Both of EMPORiO's releases and the aXpi release "Phone Home" when you run them.
They connect to friends2.valvesoftware.com (207.173.177.42) while the game is running...
It uses the IP address so you can't use the hosts file to block it...
If you have a firewall, block 207.173.177.42
Will valve ban my account/put me in jail/take away my house?
Just play the single player game and dont log into steam and then you dont
have an account to get banned! EASY! They wont take it any further then that!
and there is no fake version get over the hysteria this happens with every big release
- EDIT: MORE INFO: Informed that this text file "platform\Friends\servers.vdf" contains the IP mentioned, plus some more.
So if you are paranoid, block all of them or edit the file.
Nothing much more is known but i doubt its much more then valve support or something as you are playing in "offline" mode.
But it never hurts to disable it I guess.

How Do I Fix The AI/Elevator Problem?

Go into your hl2\cfg\ folder, and create a txt file, inside this text file, write the following lines.
ai_norebuildgraph "1"
ai_disable "0"
Save, then rename the text file to ai_fix.cfg, right click the file and set it to read only.
Next, open up valve.rc in notepad, you should see the following
// load the base configuration
//exec default.cfg
// Setup custom controller
exec joystick.cfg
// run a user script file if present
exec autoexec.cfg
//
// stuff command line statements
//
stuffcmds
// display the start-up level
startupmenu
under "exec autoexec.cfg", add this line:
exec ai_fix.cfg
Save the file and youre done!
Edit: AI/Elevator FIX Method #2
if the above doesnt work then try this:
[1] Goto your "\hl2\scripts" folder and open "debugoptions.txt" with notepad.
[2] In notepad search (CTRL+F) for "ai_disable" without the quotes.
[3] Change "ai_disable" into something else, like "ai_disable2".
[4] Save the file and launch HalfLife 2.
[5] Load your savegame
[6] If the ai still is disabled goto the console and type "ai_disable" without the quotes.
Edit: Elevator FIX Method #3
Lastly (and most simply)
"Quick save the game when the woman is done talking and just stands still, then load your quicksave you just made. Worked like a charm for me."
First try this method just as mentioned but you can also try this AFTER Removing the ai_fix.cfg file that u put in your cfg folder, load your game up and try again. After you are past the elevator part then just put the file back in your cfg folder so u dont get the AI Disabled messages!
- if these three dont work all u can do is delete your saved games and restart the chapter again
its actually a bug in the real game, even some people who bought it get it... :\

My Game Crashed With A Memory Error / Cant Find LAUNCHER.exe
HALF-LIFE 2: hl2.exe - Application error
Referenced Memory Error
DONT run the HL2.exe, run LAUNCHER.exe.
If you can't see this file then you extracted the release with .r01 file
YOU MUST EXTRACT USING THE .RAR FILE
Apparently allot of people are getting this error even
with the legit release so it might just be a bug in the game
go to the steam forums for more info on this one if you still cant fix it.

I Get A "Connection to steam servers lost" Error
You are running the original EMPORiO release. This crashes after a while
and tries to connect to steam to overcome this you must get the APE fix.

Why Did This Release Get Nuked? (Again)
"Half-Life 2 PROPER-EMPORiO [nuked: homemade.iso]"
This release got nuked because its not a cracked DISK/DVD version of the game
Its a cracked steam version. This does not mean that it doesnt work
it just means that EMPORiO didnt follow the "scene rules". It should
still work fine if you fix the AI bugs.

Can I Play Multiplayer with This Release?
The short answer, NO.
The official HL2 multiplayer is CS:Source and that has been ripped
from this release as has steam. Although Im sure by now there are ways
to play HL2 on custom maps in LAN mode. Google it up...

Why Is This Release So Small ?
This time they used the maximum compression setting in winrar as opposed to last time. (Emporio)
The release also is stripped of CS:Source and Steam. It is ONLY the SINGLE PLAYER
Half Life 2, and nothing more. Alot of people have been stressing about its size. It
includes the whole game but nothing more and better compressed. unpacked is 3.4gig

My Secondary Ammo Is Wrong & Bio Suite + Flashlight Indicator Always Stays On Red
This a known bug with the emporio release. Beesd claims that the HALF-LIFE.2.PROPER.OFFLINE.NOSTEAM-AHU release has issued this, but i cant confirm.
hopefully somebody can work out how/why it was fixed and make a fix for the emporio release..

I Cant Find d3d9.dll/N4_disp.dll/I Have No Sound/Graphics + Sound Choppy
Make sure you have the lastest drivers, for both your video card and you sound card!
Also make sure you download DirectX 9C, also for the ATI card owners everybody seems to be commending that you try the DNA drivers instead of the Catalyst ones.
Officially Acknowledged By Valve as an Issue oF HL2 is the stuttering sound, they will be releasing a fix for this soon but in the mean time, There's a heap more info and suggested
solutions on the stuttering problem here:

MAKE SURE that your speakers are set up as stereo and not something like 5.1.
You can also try these commands to improve the games performance:
snd_mixahead "0.7" (Reduces audio stuttering.)
sv_autosave "0" (Disables autosaves at start of level.)
sv_forcepreload "1" (Preloads game assets at start of level.)
cl_forcepreload "1" (Preloads game assets at start of level.)
cl_smooth "0" (Disables client-side smoothing.)
cl_ragdoll_collide 1 (Enables collision detection between ragdoll models.)
r_lod "-2" (slight increase in image quality without decrease in framerate.)

AI & HUD (Ammo/Bios Suit/Flashlight) FIX!!
ok, thanks to LUCIFER1 for pointing out that somebody has created a fix for
all these issues, HL2.HUD.FIX-edministrator.rar. Iit weighs in at a whopping 4.7 MB

but make sure that you still apply that first fix listed under "How Do I Fix The AI/Elevator Problem?"
As this patch seems to bring up the Node Graph Rebuild more often
(not a problem jast takes ~20 secs longer to load)

I Cant Access My Console
for anyone having problems activating the console, add this lines to your autoexec.cgf:
con_enable "1"
bind "\" "toggleconsole"
then, you can acces the console pressing "\". You can change this to any key you like.

If you have provision and have Node graph out of date
then download Update 1 apply files and then download update 2 from provision and apply the files. you wont have any other error after doing this
