I sooooo hope it's not another GoW-clone. It'd be nice if it was some kind of GTA4-like game in a dystopian future.

What? Hell no, it needs to be team-based tactics (along with the corp management and R&D) like the earlier games were. So stupid when publishers rape old classic IPs by completely changing the genre (XCOM case in point) - if you want to do FPS or something, just make a new IP altogether.

I was sort of talking about the perspective, not game play. Isometric perspectives aren't that fun anymore. I play Xcom Terror from the Deep and Apocalypse every now and then, but I doubt that perspective/game play would work today (except for the few of us nostalgics).

Yeah I'd prefer isometric but fat chance of that happening since they'll release it for consoles too. Probably won't have destructible environments either, I so liked flattening whole cities with nuclear grenades in SW. Sad

Spent a fuckload of hours on Syndicate and Syndicate Wars. The first one was excellent, the second one was even better.
If only Syndicate Wars had some sort of mod to play in higher res. Fuck, that would be cool Sad

Dragon Age was also on consoles. So is it fucked up?

Right, so there is still hope.

All hope is in vain, it will suck. You must view this game from this viewpoint, now you can only be positively suprised at how it does have depth and actual gameplay and isnt a whirling hurricane of shit waiting to unleash its wrath unto your computer.

Game companies secure rights to intellectual properties all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll actually go ahead with development.

The difference is that Dragon Age was first developed for PC only and then ported for the consoles. This is why they delayed it in early 09 while the PC version was already g2tg.

This game is going to be nothing like the original series, mark my words.
"As an agent in eurocorp you have to secure a run down building, whilst getting tactical feed on your neural implant, it's your teammate relaying information about enemy locations in the building. Using your Group Tactical Heads up Display (GTHD), you relay orders to your team mates in tough situations"
Something a long those lines will be in an announcement prior to release.

That has nothing to do with patents. Patents are for ideas and implementations of those ideas. What game companies are dealing with are copyrights. Or the rights to use those copyrighted materials in their own works. Also, trademarks. But not patents. Usually those refer to some specific way to do something. A controller design, a new, never before seen algorithm, etc.

Sweet need more cyberpunk-ish games.

Chronicles of Riddick wasn't half bad, though I only really played the first one years ago, not so much this later one.

I bet you anything they're just gonna take their redone riddick software and make this game fps-y.

Fuck i hope not. I don't want it to become a FPS. Syndicate should have a top down look, like in RTS games.

Starbreeze a good devs though, both Chronicles of Riddick & The Darkness had plenty of depth and solid atmosphere.
