Piranha Bytes have plans to release a console version of the game as well
World of Gothic is reporting that Mike Hoge from Piranha Bytes made a speech in the public library of Bremen (Germany) about the development of games in general and Gothic III in particular. He unveiled that Gothic III could be finished without joining a guild and the game world will consist of three different parts: a desert in the south, the landscape we already know from Gothic II and the norther part. However, they had to reduce the size of the world because they reached the limits of their technical capabilities and had to meet deadlines. Due to the deadlines, the multiplayer mode will not be implemented. Also, the player is no more forced to eat, sleep and supplying other wants regularly or by limiting the inventory. If the player will choose a higher degree of difficulty, then he could confront an Orc at the beginning of the game, instead of a wolf.

Can't wait! Lets hope we'll see it in 2005!

"Also, the player is no more forced to eat, sleep and supplying other wants regularly or by limiting the inventory." ???

Were we FORCED to sleep and eat in Gothic 2 ? I can't remember that..

They should give you the ability to buy a house, or some place like a hotel to shash your stuff and where you can sleep safely.

Are the still using the same old engine or something? Dont see why they should be running into technical limitations this early, another bad sign if you ask me.

I dont know about this game, seems like their discussion about it just talks about the problems they have run into and will inevitably continue to run into while developing into the limitations of the consoles. Why would a dev make a open-ended rpg for a console, you limit your potential from the outset, and its bound to have negative effects on the PC version.

Sounds awsome!

Will the multiplayer-part be added in a patch or so? Is there any news about this?

doubt it, i can count the ammount of games in the history of the world that have had such big improving and adding-new-features patches on 1 hand! Sad Seems like mostly developers just abandon their games once they are released, thats why i like mmorgps, they always get the luv they deserve (except swg and l2 LOL)

On that note they never did end up releasing the english version of that expansion pack for Gothic 2.

Everyone should note that this is the German version they are talking about. Seeing how Gothic is always released in German first...

Anyway here is a movie from that event in the library showing off the Scavenger

Also good thread to get info on Gothic 3

I remember reading somewhere that the game is going to be ready for Christmas 2005... So prepare for long waiting. I really enjoyed both Gothic games. Too bad they didn't release expansion pack in English .

how much will the CONSOLE fuck this over? Already Thief3, DeusEx2 have been ruined by their inclusion of a console version. and now it seems Gothic3 will be negatively affected by the console's limited power and resources.

Seeing as how G2 English didnt get released until the german expansion was finished, and that we never even got an english version of that expansion (besides the fan translated one), this one will probably be out in english around the time Gothic 4 is being started Smile
