Charming. Intelligent. Enigmatic. These are just a few words you won’t be using to describe DeathSpank. He doesn’t stab first and ask questions later. He doesn’t realize there are questions. Created by Ron Gilbert, the legendary mind behind Monkey Island, DeathSpank is the rarest of the rare: an honestly funny, fun video game.
Described by top scientists (and most reviewers, some of them scientists) as Monkey Island meets Diablo, DeathSpank is an exciting hack and slash action RPG set on a massive, dangerous, curvy world. In between hacking and slashing, DeathSpank solves puzzles and explores an epic story. DeathSpank will vanquish evil and be a hero to the downtrodden; he will collect loot, level up, collect loot, acquire new abilities and collect loot.

played it & beat it & got all achievements You'll get about 8-10 hours of gameplay. The gameplay & missions are repetitive but the humor is top notch. if you want a funny hack 'n loot type of game, definitely pick this one up.

DeathSpank, Shadow Complex and Symphony of the Night -- my absolute favourite XBLA titles! ^_^ Also played the demo of Toy Soldiers recently and, if it wasn't for the 1200MSP price tag, I'd have bought it in an instant. Absolutely incredible take on the classic toy soldier tabletop stuff ... and very impressive visuals to boot! Once it drops to 800MSP, I'll buy it.

Picked this up the other day and can't get enough of it. It's pretty damn funny too and I find myself unable to stop playing as I am addicted to all of the quests that are available. It's rare that an XBLA game comes along this good.

Did they announce a sequel? If you're talking about how the game ends, I think it's a joke.

Something tells me the game won't be appreciated by the PC crowd (as evidenced last time I posted in the PC thread, where people were pissing all over the game before it had a confirmed PC release - whining about how derp the game is - and suddenly all happy and smiles when the PC version is confirmed ), so I'll just post my thoughts here.
Finished the first game around a month ago and loved every second of it. The game just oozes Ron Gilbert charm, from the gorgeous (and unique) visuals, the hilarious voice acting, right down to the humour. Gameplay wise it's just your standard H&S pseudo-RPG, but while it doesn't break the mould.. it really does bring the fun in! Took me around 7hrs to finish it and, at first, I was PISSED about the ending. Like, really pissed. That was until I found out that the game is actually cut in half! It was originally supposed to be one huge game, but was cut in half because it was too big to be an XBLA (but not big enough to truly be a proper retail title) - with Part 2 being Thongs of Virtue. Of course this is down to you whether you believe that or whether you think it's just another case of consumer being ass-raped and having to pay twice for the same product. I'm not sure which I believe.
Still, the time I had with the first part was brilliant and I absolutely loved every second. Now Thongs of Virtue is out (at the same price as the first part, which further lends credence to the whole "split it in half to charge you twice" theory) and I got that too. The game picks up directly where the first part left off... more or less It's more "modern era" this time, rather than the high fantasy of the first part, with you taking part in a war against the other wearers of the Thongs. The story carries on directly from the first one, with you having defeated the first of the corrupted Thong wearers, now tasked at finding the rest. And I LIKE IT! Visuals are as gorgeous and charming as ever, but with a larger focus on modern-era (and even elements of scifi) setting - and with the setting change comes new weapons like guns, rocket launchers, grenades and even laser pistols
If anything, the 2nd part is actually BETTER than the first. It's longer, more involved, has more loot, more story and if you remember the early Deathspank videos; you finally get your pirate ship too! The gameplay is still the same, nothing has changed from that, but it feels more refined and the world feels a LOT larger and luckily there is a proper ending (two actually) in ToV. It's a shame it was so abruptly split in two because if you could merge these two parts (Orphans of Justice and Thongs of Virtue) it would be absolutely HUGE and well worth a retail sale, I think. Of course there are downsides, in that pretty much every single quest is a Gopher/Courier one; "Go here, do this, come back. Go here, kill these, come back" ad infinitum, but I guess the overall feel of the game made up for that - and I was always happy to get more quests.. because more quests means more loot and more gags
Still, Part 2 took me around 10hrs to finish (absolutely everything) and if you merge that with Part 1, you're looking around 17-20hrs gameplay, depending on how quick or thorough you are. Is that worth 2400MSP? It's debatable. In terms of sheer fun and enjoyment; Yes! But it all depends on how much you enjoy the Action RPG "hack and slash" titles.. and let's face it; $30 is a bit steep for an Arcade title. If you're not absolutely desperate to play, it's probably best to wait for the inevitable price drop or get the pirated copy on Steam when it hits tomorrow - though I'm not sure if the PC version is getting Thongs of Justice or not, and if it doesn't then you're getting less than HALF of the story/game.
All in all I'd happily rate it 8/10 - though once you've finished, don't expect to return to it any time soon as there's pretty much zero replayability due to the linear structure of the game.

I think the game play is pretty fun but the humor just isn't that funny to me, from what limited time I had with the demo... which is a big deal with a game like this since it tries so hard to be funny. I'll buy it if the price ever drops maybe, especially considering there's nothing on PS3 i really want to play until Dead Space 2 comes out

Nah i think I am gonna try to start playing through all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games first
edit: and I want to complete divine divinity. I've played that game so much over the years only to lose interest at the last portion of the game.. need to finish it.
