It's time for gamers to take on a new undercover assignment with Activision Publishing, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) announcement of True Crime® - an all-new open-world game inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers. Built from the ground up by developer United Front Games to look, feel and play like a true Hong Kong action flick, True Crime follows the story of detective Wei Shen as he infiltrates one of Hong Kong’s notorious Triad crime syndicates. The title was revealed exclusively this past Saturday, December 12th during Spike TV’s 7th Annual "Video Game Awards 2009" show.
As a newly hired thug within the Triad organization, Wei must do whatever it takes to stay undetected and survive, balancing his moral duty as a cop with the objectives of the assignment. In order to ascend the ranks of the underworld gamers will engage in visceral, fast-paced martial arts combat and explosive gunfights, along with high-octane driving sequences and acrobatic free-running chases as they go deeper and deeper undercover.
"We’ve been waiting for the right story and opportunity to bring True Crime to a new generation of gamers in 2010," said Maria Stipp, EVP and GM of Owned Properties, Activision Publishing. "United Front Games has the vision to bring this new undercover game experience to life, where fans will play out their own epic Hong Kong action thriller!"
"We’re excited about the opportunity to deliver a complete reboot of the True Crime experience," said Stephen van der Mescht, Executive Producer at United Front Games. "As our Spike TV VGA reveal trailer shows, we are dedicated to creating both an exceptional open-world gameplay experience through our combat, free-running, shooting and driving mechanics, as well as a rich story with memorable recurring characters. We want players to feel like an undercover cop experiencing the moral dilemmas and life and death situations of the HK underworld."
Set in Hong Kong, True Crime takes gamers through diverse neighborhoods, ranging from the high class Central HK to the bustling fish markets of Aberdeen and beyond in a wide variety of story missions and sandbox activities. The game also introduces handfuls of intriguing characters for gamers to interact with as they navigate through a truly unique and dangerous city.
Gamers can go undercover and "become one of them" when True Crime arrives in Fall 2010 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Games for Windows®. The game is currently rated "RP" (Rating Pending) by the ESRB.

The all too typical statement around here. How does it look like shit?Looks fine to me.Regardless I liked the previous true crime games (New york was better then LA) and I look forward to this sequel.I like playing as a cop for a change.
The gameplay looked pretty fluid for the most part, 100000000000000x better than the blocky slow feel of GTA4 for example.
Didn't see enough of the vehicle gameplay to see how I felt about that, even though most people complained about the cars in GTA4, I really loved the feel they had to them. ;p
This is one to keep an eye on imo, and I hope they iron out a few of those rough looking animations, but the most part I was interested in what I saw.
It's not sure yet, since the only site that says "Single player only" is wikipedia. We'll have to wait for an official statement in order to clarify that
yes, it looks kinda dated, but still looks like fun ..looks like duble dragon with guns and cars in 3d, but the fact you can throw bad guys form balcony and you can crash bones and you can use human shield...maybe gameplay like this will cover other bad's, but just maybe.
True crime LA and NY were shit GTA clones. This is another shit GTA, it looks just as bad as the first two but with slightly better graphics, notice when he is shooting it goes crazy with the cross hair flying around, you would think they would pick a better clip to put into the game but knowing how it was in the first two games I doubt they improved the crappy combat system.
I probably wouldn't even Pirate this crap.

Now we only need a Seagal mod
But considering how many polygons are needed to draw him properly, console will never be able to have a Seagal game
Don't hassle the man with a thousand faces
Yes the acting talent of his brings forth so many facial espressions it's beyond human comprehension. And he plays the guitar like a pro.
He should be in true crime, he'd be a great asset to such a sub par game - and a fitting one as well.
EDIT: access? I meant asset of course, type too fast sometimes
Someone might telling me why it "looks like shit"? Looks ok to me and while the True Crime games aren't great games they tend to be somewhat decent and fun to play.
Activision has delayed the release of True Crime: Hong Kong from late 2010 to 2011.
The publishing giant made the announcement within its Q1 financials report. According to the PR, the firm says the delay has been made to "give the development team more time to deliver the high-quality entertainment experience they envision for the game."
Activision's relying on Call of Duty: Black Ops to rake in the cash. "Despite Activision Publishing moving the release of True Crime: Hong Kong into 2011, Activision Blizzard is reaffirming its calendar year 2010 outlook due to an increase in its expectations for the Call of Duty brand in the fourth quarter," it said.
Barring a surprise from Rockstar this summer, True Crime: Hong Kong is very possibly the biggest and most polished open-world action game on the horizon - and we know, we've seen it.
Quote:
With the extra year of development granted by Activsion, from what we've seen, True Crime is definitely shaping up to be one of the most polished open-world games of the generation. Whether it's the best to play however, remains to be seen.
UFG admits open-world is a difficult genre to inject fresh life into, which is why it's focusing on its core strengths. At the very least it should end up delivering the best sandbox action thrills of 2011... bar a surprise from someone else, of course.
