Starting with the release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the publisher will introduce a new Online Pass, a one-time registration code included with each brand new copy of the game. The code allows players to access "online services, features and bonus content.

wait a minute it doesnt sound that evil lets just think about what they are doing

Those who purchase the game used can buy an Online Pass for $10 or sign up for a free 7-day trial.

at a time when publishers are locking out gamesfrom the second hand market by forcing people to register an online account for each game EA are still giving the second hand market a chance albeit your game is instatly worth 10$ less second hand.

i personally dislike the nature of steam because you would never be able to sell any games on that require steam back when i used to buy pc games in the 90s and early 2000's i could sell them on to a local shop without losing much value and just clonecd the cd incase i ever wanted to play it again.

if i still bought games i would like the option to atleast sell them on.

i dont play any regular games anymore though just mmos and free shit like league of legends [/u][/b]

anwway wont it mean you can pirate all of ea's games and if you want multiplayer just pay 10$ instead of full price Laughing

The way I see it, if this comes to the PC, count me in.

This is basically an acknowledgment from EA, that those who pirate, wouldn't buy the game, if they couldn't pirate! Finally a publisher opens their eyes, and sees, that this is the way to capitalize on pirates. It's a win-win.

yep if it is what it sounds like, and makes it to pc, not only is it good for gamers, but its smart for EA.. they know theyve lost a sale to a pirate who isnt going to go out and buy it, but hey.. $10 for multiplayer access is a great deal for the player, and thats an extra $10 that EA wouldnt have normally got.

fuck EA, those insidious bastards for understanding gamers and finding a way to make me want to pay money for their shit...

now all they have to do is start making games that id want to play online...

EA makes you pay for yearly updates (50€ for fresh rosters), and people are complaining about this?

As far as I see it it doesn't really mean piracy or such but rather used game sales which several other publishers have also had "issues" with, not a problem on PC though (Or at least not here.) since you can't buy used PC games.

Ah, console fags always getting ripped the fuck off.

Having to pay for a seperate internet service, overpriced accessories, 'dlc' like mods for PC games but they cost money!, and all those cool console exclusive games you played once and threw out.

I feel bad for them. Sad Next they will be paying for demos!

Wasn't EA or Ubisoft or some bigger studio like that already planning a demo/trial purchase plan?
(Crytek made a comment about it and was supporting the idea as well so I think it might have been EA, longer gameplay and more content but at a price like 10$ or some such.)

What do you expect when over 17 million console kiddies are ready to throw out 15$ for 3 maps?

Anyways, this is a great job on EA's part, can't wait to see how this turns out.

so to explain why its called the next phase... the first phase was riping content from a full game and selling it as a DLC , next phase its they block Live access (think console game will be like PC games with serials to get the online stuff)

now if you buy a new game you get two serials that will give you the cut content DLC and multiplayer for FREE,
but if you buy this game used you have to pay 10$ to get the DLC and another 10$ to get the live code

I don't see a problem with this at all. Used games = Piracy, more or less. It's the same to the developer/publisher.

I think used games hurt them more *directly* than piracy, because most pirates wouldn't pay anyway ! Also, pirated games don't have multiplayer ...

Whereas buying the used game normally gets you 100% of the features, but paying a lot less than you would.

Besides, $10 for online feature reactivation isn't much, you can still get used games and save up money.

Ten dollars is like 2 CoD maps Very Happy

It's just like cerberus for ME2 then...I can live with that.

Only problem I see with this is the endless DLC crap to lure in those said pirates and used game buyers.
Like the newest DAO dlc(gifts and pranks...wtf) and those armors for ME2...

Who cares? They are happy they get money (and I am happy for them) while pirates (incl. me) get those DLC for free. What's wrong with that?

your comparison to piracy is utterly and completely flawed.

when a used game is sold that means it was bought new at one time or another in the past, and publisher already got its share. also, when used game is sold previous owner can't play it any more.

maybe trading of 2nd hand stuff should be banned altogether. i'm sure car manufacturers and other industries would be more than happy about this.

Also, when you buy new car, do you need to keep the old one, or can you sell it, to reduce costs.

Same works for games, at least most of them.

IMHO, games that can't be resold are effectively worth less then those that can.
