but its nothing more than a differential like in a rear wheel of a car..just stretched out...(which the rear differential technically is a transmission anyway, transmitting power to whichever wheel is not having resistance put on it)
but same idea...one side turns slower than the other..causing one to move faster than the other.
jack up your car..turn the left wheel, the right wheel turns opposite..so that would be the way his reverse works.
start the car, and hold one wheel, the other starts spinning 2x as fast..that would be his top gear.
we use to use rear differentials from a car to drive a big drill press speed ratio in a tool shop I use to work in. varying the speed by the resistance put on the free spindle, (too bad we didn't take it a step further and make this )
so he just took existing tech thats been around since 1900's and changed the application. but still a good leap in logic on how to use it to make an inline transmission.
all hes doing is using one wheel an input..one as output..and the crosspiece (driveshaft) as the 2nd bar motor
