“All the four main actors want to come back and do it,” the director tells Deadline’s Pete Hammond, who caught up with Boyle at the Telluride after-party for the “work-in-progress” screening of Steve Jobs with Michael Fassbender in the title role. “Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series,” Boyle says.

Boyle also told Deadline that Hodge’s script for what they’re calling Trainspotting 2 is terrific, that the actors all want to do it and reiterated that it will be the director’s next film depending on the actors’ U.S. TV schedules. Hodge wrote the sequel script based on Welsh’s Porno, which was the author’s own sequel to his original Trainspotting novel.
He has been talking about it for years. Let's see if it gets delayed again.
Also someone check if chiv is ok.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Next year serves as the twentieth anniversary of director Danny Boyle's breakout film "Trainspotting". For years there's been talk of a sequel, and now Boyle seems to finally have a timeframe in place.
In a new interview with Coming Soon today for the upcoming "Steve Jobs" film which he also directed, Boyle confirmed reports the other week that "Trainspotting 2" will be his next film. Now, he has dates set out:
"It's May and June next year we shoot and we've got a terrific script. We've got the four main actors all eager and willing to do it. I'm very happy because my only (concern) was that the script would be good for two of them and not so great for the other two, and they'd feel obliged to come back but they've all got good stuff, and it's a very interesting look at them again. Hopefully, we can get it finished in time to release it in 2016 which is the 20th Anniversary year, so yes, we're on it, and it's looking good."
Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle starred in the original and Kelly Macdonald was the female lead - all are expected to return. Shooting is not taking place until the summer likely due to Miller and Carlyle's U.S. TV commitments.
Asked about the film's title, he confirmed it will NOT be "Porno" like Irvine Welsh's 2002 sequel novel. In fact he cracked a joke about what it could be: "We're going to try and call T2 but there might be some issues there with James Cameron. I'll have to beg and we'll have to go to James Cameron and say 'What do you think?'"
John Hodge, who adapted the first film's script, is returning for the follow-up which will be adapted from the sequel novel.
Who knows, it might be good...
Either way, it won't wreck the first one for me as if it's horrible I'll just pretend it never came out.
Haha, that's the spirit xD
Scepticism is always there for the obvious reasons, but I quite liked what I saw in the trailer. It felt strange and melancholic at first, then it showed its true identity, the good old chemistry seems to be back in modern sauce..maybe. Fingers crossed!
His recent 'oscar' movies have been the worst of what he has done.
When he goes full creative and just does what he wants. It's perfect.
His style is always worth a watch.
And from this trailer it still has his surreal style. \o/
I wonder what those oscar movies are, cause Slumdog Millionaire was one of the most worthy best movie winners in the last decade or so. That been said, all he's done has been well received regardless if you like it or not, I personally didn't like 28 Days Later, but many people here seem to love it.
