Ok, the last console I owned was an N64, so call me outdated all you want but... fuck.
Bought a 360 yesterday and... first of all: what's the point of including "Banjo Kazooie nuts & bolts" with the fucking thing? Shouldn't the included game be meant to like... promote the console? I remember Mario 64 was included in my ol' n64... but no, let's include one of the crappiest games on the console, since on its own it doesn't sell shit... but whatever, that's not the point.
So, I wanted to connect it to a pc monitor since my tv is shit, but I already knew the proper cable wasn't included, cheap bastards... so I bought an extra VGA cable to hook it up. I open the box, set it up, only to find out that the fucking cable has a vga MALE connector...now... wtf? Every monitor I've ever seen ends with a male connector, so you need a female cable to hook it up... what's the point of putting a male connector on the cable?
So I went back to the shop and guess what... the cable I bought was made by a third party manufacturer, if I buy the ORIGINAL one from microsoft it comes with a vga "gender changer"... too bad the M$ one costs 40 FUCKING EUROS! Whadda fuck???? A cable that costs 1/3 of the total price of the console, are you kidding me?
I told the guy at the shop to fuck off and ordered a gender-changer from ebay.
In the meanwhile I told to myself, well... I can't use the console yet, might as well use the controller on the PC in the meanwhile, should be good for playing with emulators, and I read that the 360 pad was windows-compatibile. So I unwrap the fucking pad and guess what... apart from the fact that it comes with two lousy alkaline batteries (you're making a wireless-only controller, AT LEAST include rechargeable batteries, goddamit!)... it doesn't work on the pc. I search some info on google and... of course... you need ANOTHER MOTHERFUCKING SEPARATELY-SOLD ACCESSORY to connect it to the pc.
Fuck.
Fucking Microshit cheap mangy bastards.

You should have bought the console with a different game bundled with it. I would have googled what cables come with the console, and it's pretty easy to see that a wireless controller is going to need something plugged into the PC to be able to use it.

Let me guess, this is the first time you've bought a console? The cable and the wifi thing you're talking about are accesories, so extras. What producer would include every cable possible?

Nope, I bought an NES a loooong time ago  and an n64 too, as I said
I'm not complaining that the cable is not included, I'm complaining a fucking cable costs 40€ and that the cheaper third-party one comes with an incompatible connector 
And yeah, the pad is wireless, but so is my laptoop, and I still need the fucking adapter since they use a proprietary protocol instead of a standard one (like blootooth, which the wiimote uses, in fact you can connect it to your pc with a simple driver).
But mainly: this is the bitching session, and I just wanted to vent my frustration on microsoft

1. only a wired xbox360 controller works in a PC
2. buy a cheap play&charge kit , it has two things a cable that will turn your wireless into a wired controller (it only gives power output) and a battery pack (there are two AA 1800 there when you open it and replace them with AA 2800), the plus is you can play when you charge the batteries (you can buy those cheap from any place , even the cheap knockoffs are ok)
3. why did you buy the xbox360 now , when in 4-5 months there will be a new slim model with added Nathal camera ?

and from the info you gave us i see you bought the Arcade model , you will feel the pain of not having a HDD ... so get one or start using 16gig USB sticks (thats the max xbox360 can handle)

Why would anyone buy the arcade for 120 euro if the elite with 120gb hdd, pure and batman lego and a wireless controller costs just 180 euro?
(I have a flyer here with the above mentioned xbox 360... but the fuckers put a playstation controller in the pic, with the big sony logo  )

I bought a still packaged official one on ebay for under $20 USD as well...

Good for you... the cheaper elite version I found around here (even counting online shops) is 215 € + shipping. Anyway, I have 3 almost unused 16gb usb sticks, so I think I'll just use those

Yeah, I was talking about the official M$ price, which is 39$, probably would be cheaper online but who cares, the third party one cost 9€ and the gender-changer is like 2$, so no big deal.

I think I'll just get a wired second controller... I need a second pad anyway, and I only need one to use on pc...
As for Natal, I frankly don't give a shit... especially if the rumors that it'll cost 149$ are true  Actually in the position I placed it I wouldn't even have the space to use it properly.

Ummm... que? EVERY VGA/DVI cable *ever* will be MALE as the inputs on monitors and televisions are ALWAYS FEMALE. They're never ever ever ever ever ever ever MALE, because FEMALE=INPUT and MALE=OUTPUT (you know? female has vagina working as an input for the male's penis working as an output) The ports on graphics cards and monitors are always female and the cables that connect them are always male. Ya'see?
Mate, if your monitor has got a MALE plug for its input, you might want to buy a proper one I got my official grey 360 VGA cable and the plug is a MALE connection which fits into the FEMALE VGA input on every monitor I've ever had. |
Dunno what to tell you, I have 2 monitors (not very new, but still in good working order) and they both have male cables coming out of them... which of course connect to the female graphics card port, as you mentioned.

Obvious troll is obvious. What the fuck are you talking about. EVERY and i mean EVERY connector on the back of a monitor should be female. Standard monitor cables are male to male, female on the system and female on the monitor.

it sounds like you have one of those shitty monitors that has a hardwired vga cable coming out of it.. then just get a male to male adapter.

I had bought a VGA cable from some site for seven euro's, it had the right connection. Maybe you just bought the wrong cable. The price of teh original is a rip off yes, but that's been the case with every cable for every piece of hardware. Did you take a look at the "Monster" cables? Who the hell would pay 40-50 euros for a digital HDMI cable? Crazy fuckers.
