They're finally making some official announcements of NFS World Online. Some screenshots and a trailer at the ign link. They're looking at Q4 2010 for release.
Need For Speed World is strictly for PCs, and EA was demoing the game with mouse-and-keyboard controls only. But the final version will support both gamepads and steering wheel controllers. Driving a car with arrow keys isn't my favorite way to test out a new racing game, but even with those limitations, the cars in Need For Speed World felt responsive and fun to drive. And fun is what EA is focusing on, here. This isn't a simulation; the racing is arcade-like rather than pinpoint accurate.
Nice. Signed up. Hopefully this will turn out better than Motor City Online did. I've still got my beta disc around somewhere for that. haha
Got that disc too, pity they never released the online code part, so you could at least play it offline.
Don't get your hope ups on the beta, applied weeks ago, haven't heard anything. Thinking it might be US only? (or they lost my beta apply).
Its not much to say, its most wanted with a darker graphic like in carbon. The controls are not different, although the cars tend to slide when taking turns at high speed. There are only 5 or 6 races available (circuits and sprints) which you can race them in mp or sp mode (with boots, just like counterstrike).
You have powerups like in revolt or level-r (like nos, magnet,evade,+1 lap, etc) which you win them at the end of the race. When finishing a race, you have 5 cards with rewards from which to choose 1 . Also you win money for upgrades and reputation. when you gain a level , you gain 1 skill points and you can choose from some categories like pursuit,race,explore...each category with their own skills
The graphics are so-so, with the shadows lookin horrible. It runs fine here on maximum 30-40 fps on a 4850. Too bad you cant change the controls.
Also there is the police that its pretty annoying in explore mode the evading part is harder than in mw or carbon
