So, one of the managers at my job complains about his PC running slow, so I take a look and determine for the amount of work and applications he is running 512MB RAM is not sufficient enough.
So I go ask my boss if I can spend $50 on a RAM upgrade for this person, and my boss says no.... ok fine... whatever
So I tell the manager "hey the boss says I can't spend that money on your RAM upgrade, sorry"
This is what I get back....
"You fucking dick, you should have just ordered it and that's it, dont fucking worry about it now ill take care of it my fucking self"
Yes..... because I'm going to go against my boss's word and spend company money I'm not allowed to spend....
So now this manager is all angry at me for not getting him RAM :/
wtfux?

I chose to go with what my boss says, I always do. He is the 2nd highest in command here next to the CEO so I don't fuck with what he says, EVER.
I just hate being fucking caught in the middle like so many times before. My boss tells me I can't do something, I then have to deliver the bad news to someone, and then that someone gets automatically angry with me.
I'm fucking sick of it honestly, I'm just trying to do my job the best I fucking can, and it's a big downer for me when people get upset with me over something I have no control over.
The manager really has no reason to be upset with me, which he clearly is, and it sucks because I consider him a close friend of mine :/
Either way, just wanted to vent a little bit today and get this shit off my chest!

people should relax a bit more.
HE is angry, it is HIS problem. You did not do anything wrong. Enjoy and move on.
Why should you care when people are angry at you? It does not change your life.

Well, next time he asks for something else..take your time. Hell, take weeks.. Just give him worse service. Anytime a client pisses me off, I just make their lives more difficult.
You should also report back to your boss about his comments. He should be repremended.
Did he email you those comments? If so, forward it on to your directors.

You COULD try the sneaky approach (its super effective):
for example the ram thing: tell your boss, that you have a guy with "faulty" ram (say you ran mem386+, if he asks). Ask him - since ram is cheap - if it is ok, to upgrade that pc to double the ram, because it will make the machine faster.
=> outcomes:
- if he denies you the upgrade path, you ll still HAVE to get the same amount of replacement ram, which you can use to double the ram
- if he says its ok, you may get out of the deal with some spare ram you can use to upgrade other pcs in the future (or take home, because it is "faulty").
It is important to give managers options to decide from, so you get what you want, and they feel that they decided something. Going with "can i" questions that only have yes or no as answers (and the no answer does not help anybody) is bad. So always formulate plans that make sense that managers can chose from that will always benefit the people either way. Dont be too obvious about it though

I'm not letting this get to me anymore. It annoyed me at first because it's just the type of personality I have where I feel bad if someone has a problem with me ( I always try to get along with everyone).
I needed to know that his reason for being angry at me was absolutely unvalidated
Either way, I like the sneaky approach the best. It's almost like a fail safe for this situation, wish I would have thought of that first... too bad im not a sneaky fucker like you Lutzifer haha

That's some good reverse psychology stuff there. Reminds me of a book I read about negotiations.
