Hey guys, I like fooling around with the midi piano on my notebook and I thought it would be nice if there is a good application out there to record the notes that I enter through my notebook keyboard.
I would like to edit the notes (duration and stuff) afterwards and maybe play it back with a better sound than midi
Further I would like to be able to play with different instruments and arrange the final song. Having different effects and ready drumsets or whatever would be nice but is not a must.
The main important part for me is that I am able to record live my normal PC keyboard inputs as notes that I can edit afterwards
Thanks in advance! (oh and I'm a Windows User, no mac software please )

Never used them before but when I was in a band a lot of people were using Cuebase and Cakewalk.

you can now..drag anything anywhere.
like I said since it went to v 8/9 its 10x better. can drag mp3/wav from the list..or from desktop/folder.

I've used Fruity loops years ago.. I don't know maybe version 2 or 3? It was fun to use... I might give the newer version a try! Thanks for the input! If you have any other ideas, keep em coming
If I should go and buy myself a cheap "keyboard" are the buttons analog? So can I just push the button softly to produce a softer sound? I'm not even sure if real pianos work like that

of course i meant usb midi keyboards, besides more or less every decent midi keyboard has usb was well as midi anyway nowadays
and i second the suggestion of getting a decent audio card...you can get the usual gamer pc soundcards down to a useable latency, but forget about input via some shitty integrated laptop chipset

I am a little bit limited budget wise, so I'll wait to buy some hardware until I have the results of my thesis Oh and I need to see if I am good enough to even go further! But this thread is already bookmarked
