I think "hand-ellipse" would be even better since an ellipse has two identical ends, just like the thing that american football players hold in their hands.
But it would never be accepted by the American public...simply because the average American doesn't know what an ellipse is.
Do you really think we should shock the average redneck with the three dimensions of an ellipsoid at once? These people are used to watching NASCAR races.
