reviews are weak on this one
a lot of variety
but a mediocre kart replacement
back during initial retail release
the loading times were horrid
3 minutes to start a race from insertion of disk to final pre-race loading sreen

This and it gives no feeling of speed. Even Mario Kart DS is better.

I'm loving this game though.
For me it's one of the best kart games out there and way better then mariokart wii imho.
And the load times are shorter now, there is already a patch out to minimize that problem a bit and it will be improved in the nearby future.
Don't let those reviews fool you and try out the game yourself.
The customization in this game is awesome though.

i've been playing this for a week now and i like it too. Feeling of speed can be modified in the options, just like in Mario Kart (50-100-150cc, here you have casual, pro and some other thing).
The community already made a lot of fun tracks to download, and it's great fun with a couple of friends in split screen.
And i also really like that you can upgrade the items you pick up on the road.

I'll chime in as well as loving this game! I installed a career 100% save game so I could unlock all the building items, and bought it mainly to split scren play online with da wife.
We probably downloaded about 50 new characters, tons of tracks and karts as well.
I've also done a very detailed Ghostbusters charatcer, and also a Ghostbusters kart as well.
