Interesting article, knew most of besides the silencer part, on top of that I never thought about the ammo clips other than me reloading a gun wiht 10 bullets left with a clip to go back up to full ammo lol. Obviously that part is done to preserve fun, imagine trying to manage ammo in left 4 dead lol, fuck that

Well, you do manage ammo in Alien Swarm and the first Mafia. It added that extra immersion in the latter.

Tool needs to get off the damn consoles.
Stalker has had jams for years.

I find the article retarded. A monkey could come up with that shit. I'll start a blog and write about dragons and shit, how they can't be real.

Oh come on, it's a fun article and everything they say is pretty much correct. Obviously we have all these liberties with guns/explosives in games simply to increase the fun (call me derp; but the constant jamming of weapons in FC2 was *not* fun, it was fucking infuriating... especially considering AI weaponry never jammed) but the points the article author make are still accurate. Gotta love this though;

Running is also one of those things. No fps has ever done it realistically. You always run around the battlefield as fast as Bolt and with more stamina than Kenian marathon runner.
Ironically the closest to reality are japanese console shoters like Resident Evil and MGS.

I know little to nothing about guns, all those points seem logical even to me. This guy is writing that piece as if he just figured out something no one ever realized before. I even feel a bit insulted by his "haha stupid gamers think this shit is real" attitude. Maybe I'm bitching to bitch.

flashpoint and arma1/2
also..
#7 - clips are as clips in the inventory - not ammo
if you keep reloading after every other shot like in most games, you end up with a bunch of clips with a few shots left each.. which makes some awkward shooting
#6 - bullets penetrate
#3 - scopes have to be zeroed (bullets have actual ballistic trajectories)
#1 - does not teach to shoot, but is used in it's professional version to teach tactics to actual soldiers

By the way, STALKER did more realistic bullet trajectories, by adding "flatness" stat to every gun.
Guns with higher flatness would fly further before falling down. Too far away target, and bullet would not go where it is aimed to.

Fun article, most of the stuff is obvious, but some stuff I didn't know before.

They are the same. And from pure gameplay view unrealistic fatigue on games of that scale is a big plus.
I think I've forgotten first two Rainbow Six games and SWAT. Those two were pretty realistic in that area.
