right now id say theyre about even, but when 64bit windows and more games have the compatibility the 64 will obvioussly win. of course it depends on what speeds your using too.

AMD 64 is almost made for gaming. Some of the lower speed 64 bit cpus beat the highest clocked P4's.

Okay Intel is going 64 bit... but they are way behind... AMD has about 80% of the marked today... 1 year ago it was the other way around... I've heard that Dell maybe switching to AMD... But let's see what happens...

I don't want to start the discussion, but what are you talking about? 80% of the overoll cpu market. You must be dreaming! Not even does AMD have 80% on the retail market:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09/09/amd_vs_intel_retail/
Intel still dominates the more important business and notebook market:
Quote: | It's important to point out that the numbers refer to desktop sales. Intel dominates the notebook sector, which is taking an ever larger chunk of the overall PC market, keeping the chip giant well ahead of its arch-rival for the time being. Equally, Intel continues to outsell AMD by a very healthy margin in the non-retail segments, primarily because of its strength in the corporate and business sectors - and, of course, market leader Dell's current 'Intel only' policy. |
I know that's an older article, but intel still dominates notebooks and the non-retail markets, and these are the ones profit is made. And dell is only thinking about to offer opteron servers in addition to xeon's

The AMD processors are great for playing... People will see a great differens in the new games on the marked... Because the AMD processor takes a lot more data through it's "brain", the maps etc. can be a lot bigger than it used to be...
I'm lovin' It...

I could have sworn AMD 64 was *the* fastest for gaming, can't even compare them...
personally I can't stand AMD though, every system I've built using their chips has had fucking problems, from games freezing when I start them to crashes and so on.... then I build an intel and ta da everything worked perfectly.

Maybe you should consider to get help, when you connect your hardware...

That's just what i mean! Thought the clockfrez.'s not very high on the AMD processors, they still kick ass
I'm lovin' it...

jo last year i bought an AMD64-3000+ which runs fine @2200MHz with the original-cooler which equals to a 3300+. gaming is a nice thing on the AMD, but i do not like the performance when using cce or other cpu-intensive progs, the mousefeeling is very choppy, new opened tasks will need about 20sec. to show up etc... ie my olde dual-p3-1000 box is not that fast in encoding vidstuff but the system responds much smoother than the AMD-babe. the same i recognized on a P4 with HT, you r able to do some things while running a high-priored task.
maybe the L1+L2 Cache will affect performance that way, also i believe that intel-chipsets r the best ya can get, they offer the best ram-performance.
AMD is real nice but P4HT is a bit nicer, if ya want allroundperformance.
HD
