|
 |
Im looking to sell my 6 month old iPhone 32gb 3GS Black, preferably on e-Bay.
Its boxed in good condition, with two sets of iPhone earphones, 2 USB mains adaptors, 2 USB charging cables and a flip case with built in rechargeable battery.
Realistically, what can I expect in UK pounds?
Do I sell as Buy It Now or auction?
Its jailbroken and up until half an hour ago, was locked to the o2 network. Having read that it is more likely to sell better unlocked, I have just ran blacksn0w via Cydia and it seems to have unlocked it as I have just tried a Vodafone sim card in and it worked fine.
A question regarding the unlock I have is, if the phone is restored would it lose the unlock or is that now permanent?
Having never sold anything on Ebay, does anyone have any good tips or advice?
Thanks in advance
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Well, I wouldn't buy anything this expensive from a first-time seller. Make sure you put a lot of pics of the phone.

the unlock isn't permanent...a restore would remove the jailbreak, including the unlock. especially right now-->first thing someone would do after purchasing it would be probably updating to iOS4

Ahh damn thanks for that info! Surely I could still claim it as unlocked? Is no unlock permanent then?
If they hurry up and release the ios4.0 jailbreak I could advertise it with that.

Pay 15 pounds to O2 to unlock the phone from O2 network. That will add to its price.

o2 didn't charge me to unlock my iphone. there is a link on their site somewhere (google it). if you're near the end of contract, they'll do it for free.
you getting an iphone 4 on thurs then mate? where you planning on going?

It was my initial intention but due to possible stock shortages and how slow Ive been doing anything about selling my 3GS, I can honestly say I wont be getting the iPhone 4 on Thursday.
Im not near the end of the contract either. I have about 14 months left on it and Im opting for the early upgrade, which is reduced monthly payments to end the contract early. Obviously Im still going to be with o2 but the offer runs until the end of July. So I need to get as much as I can for the 3GS in the meantime.

$159? I dunno how much that is but it doesnt sound a lot! Did you have the 32gb though?
I was hoping someone in here could tell me how much I can expect lol.
Ideally Id want at least £300 for the boxed phone with two sets of iPhone earphones, 2 USB mains adaptors, 2 USB charging cables and a flip case with built in rechargeable battery.
Or is that unreasonable?
o2 Recycle will get me about £250 for the phone but Id rather try the e-Bay route first.

Ah, yah mine was only a 16GB, was a little on the low side, but... I settled for it, also I waited a little longer than I should have and the value went down, shame on me!
Over here in the US you can get a NEW iPhone 3GS for $99 (on a new contract) so I figured I wouldn't be able to sell it very easily anyways.

You should easily get 300 pound for it, as long as its in good shape. If someone wants a new one on a contract then sure, there $99 here, but thats with a 3 year contract. Without a contract they are still like $800.
