So I seem to have a lot of stuff lying around that is not compatible with 64 bit Win 7. Is there any way to get those applications to run under Win 7 64 bit at all?

(except deleting win 7 64 bit and installing the 32 bit variant).

Can you give examples of what that stuff is? The things not compatible with 64-bit Windows are usually old hardware and their drivers drivers, and 16-bit applications.

w7x64 ultimate has the xp-mode thingie in there that allows you to run 32bit software, but it's really just an xp installed in a virtual machine
it doesn't even allow hardware accelerated graphics, so you would do better by just using xp in vmware

also, what inatan said
there's really no reason for a piece of 32bit software not to work in 64bit, unless if they use drivers or hook the kernel (or are 16bit, which are ridiculously rare these days)
what software are they?

Damn, already forgot about this post Very Happy
Well, problem solved anyway. I don't need those applications anymore.
They were (the large part) old as hell apps written by guys at my uni. We needed those for a couple of classes but apparently we're done with them so for now I don't need 'em anymore Smile
