For some reason, Whenever I drink I can code some beautiful PHP. I'll wake up the next day to check over to make sure I didn't typo and find that everything is perfect, it's all sanity checked, sanitized, and clean. It's not that I forget doing this, it's just that while sober I find myself too...well scatterbrained to accomplish it. My mother was diagnosed with ADD and she's very similar..scatterbrained.. change topics mid sentence, mental focus keeps hopping subjects before the previous one finishes. The alcohol seems to let me focus in on just the code and work it until it's done. Doctor Hump, Do I get Adderall?
Another wierd thing is that for most people who experience ADD, many pills will have an adverse effect similar to a young child, aka Meth / Adderall would be a more mellow drug then an extreme upper, yet I don't have this effect... Uppers make me up.. Cocaine makes me bounce off the fuckign walls ..etc.. So do i just have shitty focus or could this be ADD. NFOHump is the best medical reference on the tubes

See a doctor is my advice; self medicating will fuck you up sooner or later. Especially if you are using stimulants or other medication with dangerous side effects.
I don't consider this topic useless at all by the way, perhaps request it to be moved into the general discussion section.

I dont mean this to sound anti-American (I am presuming you are American) but its some fucked up system where you cant justify the costs of going to see a Doctor.
I have a lot of complaints about England but universal free health care should be a must have for any country

Nahhh... As i've expressed quite clearly in other threads..I dislike the random threads about "omg a squirrel got ran over" and the first post is "Lol America sucks".. But this is something I would like to see as well. Our healthcare system isn't so great and we finally have a president who wants to fix it and we get nothing but fucking resistance by both goddamn sides..rednecks AND hippies. I just don't understand. I do have insurance and so does the person i'm taking care of right now, but when you are a single ~25yr/old male taking care of 2 people..food/rent/EXTENSIVE med bills / subscriptions/etc.., even the 10% co-pay is too much lol.
I would love to see Obama get a health care system into place even with Americans at large kicking and screaming the whole way. It will be like a mother taking a cat into a warm bath with it clawing at her...then just relaxes and wonders why the water feels so good lol

What the holy fuck?! You are forced to not choose medication and self medicate with alcohol because you cannot afford to pay the doctor? What kind of doctor is that?
Sorry but I'm used to European healthcare. You pay about €120 to the insurance company each month, AND THAT'S IT. If necessary you will receive any and all care or medication when needed.
OK, that ranting will probably be of little use to you. Fortunately, not all ADD medication is expensive. Generic methylphenidate is relatively cheap. You do however need to see an expensive doctor to be diagnosed first and have some guidance when using medication.
Apparently there's a lot of hidden talent waiting to be unlocked, so I think it's worth looking into this matter.

I don't think for a single person with a job outside of Chopping turkey's heads off, it would be a problem, but my room-mate is terminally ill, so I cannot blame the US health-care situation on all of it. Although they refuse her Social Security when she obviously needs it, she does have some support and it cuts about ~$100/week off my bills. For instance.. In the U.S. if I were to apply for S.S. At this moment declaring extreme alcohol dependance and a S.S. Worker came out on friday and watched me drink 1.75L of Jager, I would get full time benefits. But this person, with Hepatitis C ( From a Tattoo), Nerve Neuropathy, Near bridged portal veins, Disc Disalignment, and 2-5 other serious conditions can't even get partial disabilitye.
The US is passing a thing where dependants 26 or younger can carry onto a parents Insurance.... Yay..I can get onto her insurance that I am already tapping out Just to pay her for Vicadin / Adderall / Xanex/ Blood - Pressure meds / Tramadol + Weekly $25 Co-pays to the Dr. ... Think they may wish to consider something in reverse.
I was about to start a 2 Year Community with passage to 4 year with credits passed, but some things just cannot be avoided.. It sounds terrible but my only option at this point is wait until "she" passes and start then

As a student I have to pay the full 15,09% (~280-290€ each month!) of my salary to fucking health care and they don't cover everything, had to pay ~300€ extra for a bridge and stuff FUCK 
It's time for my fucking employee to give me a full wage and cover 50% of my health insurance
