This has being going on for almost 1-2 years. So, I think I might be pressing my luck? Or is it just gonna stay like this forever? I never lost any data, however when I read files it takes awhile. Its just used for storage, but I dont want to lose anything. Movies play fine, pics open..But as I said, it takes a few seconds to open. BIOS mode takes an extra 5 seconds to read this drive. Should I just JUNK it now?

Maxtor... there's a shocking surprise nobody expected. As soon as I saw the topic title, I instantly thought "Betcha it's a Maxtor..." My advice? You should never have bought the useless piece of broken trash. My HELPFUL advice? Backup what you can now, because that drive is about to cough up a lung.

I paid $30 for it in 01/2008 - only reason why I got it. It happens to be my only Maxtor drive (my other 3 are WesternDigital and my newest one is a Samsung F3 1TB).

Im copying the entire drive to my new Samsung right now. I think I am pressing my luck. The strange thing is this Maxtor can not even be read in an external case. It only works in my rig. So, I think it can kick the can anyday.

15 minutes remaining..looks good. did not realize I was living on the edge. But it was beginning to get annoying with the delay boot up and reading of files.
