Ive seen the movie upwards of 100 times.
You guys are way off, it has to do with a tangeant universe breaking off from the streamlined one when an artifact (the engine) strays from its path in time. The whole movie is then a leadup of the powers that be using Donnie, who is now imbued with super-hero traits, to get the artifact back. All the events that happen, happen to get that plane to be there at the exact moment the funnel opens to get a replacement engine back into the streamlined universe. This is why time seems to reverse, because the tangeant universe is collapsing back on itself. If you bought the DVD I would recommend reading the book that is found in the extras. It is the actual book used in the movie, "The Philosophy of Time Travel". This is in my top 5 favourite movies, if not my favourite, so any other questions go ahead and hit me with,

Interesting interpretation, as Richard Kelly probably would've said.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Here is a better question... what part did you understand ?
About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.
Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

darko isn't a deep movie 'ffs'!
It’s a what if movie. You can't escape 'faith' but you can always hope how it would be if you have dodged that bullet. That's happened. It was all a what if.
Everything he did never happened. That’s the ending. The ending is the beginning and the whole movie is just the ‘what if’. A dream! You can’t guess this and guess that. There is no time machine no nothing. The whole thing is a metaphor for him to go back to reality and realize he’s dead.
I mean bah. You can look it from the ‘deep’ point of view like how he was neglected as a child growing up and when he almost died all this attention was put into him and he just couldn’t handle it. lynch’s movie scare me but they are good the guy is a kindergarten teacher ffs! hahaha (so i heared )
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

According to the director's commentary and stuff it basically goes like this:
Basically the whole point was getting that jet engine into that time portal. When the engine first crashed into Donnie's room it created a tanget universe and the world would end in 28 days. During those 28 days with the help of Frank, Donnie is able to do this. It goes back to October 2nd and everything is fine. He basically didn't have to die but either he chose to die or thought it was all a dream.

I never said I could explain Lynch. I'm not aware of any man who can. His movies are the insides of a mind. Any mind. They are fucked up and they tell a story!
Ever looked inside your head for an hour or two? Every horror you witnessed, every rape act you encountered is in one big picture. It won’t be a pretty picture. And that’s what I think Lynch’s movies are about. Everything inside the main characters mind exposed to reality.
Lost highway mainly deals with the loss of privacy / violation of privacy. And many many many other things.
The movies are great! Just because it is hard to understand doesn’t mean it sucks.
His movies are masterpieces. Not everyone knows the true story behind Mona Lisa’s smile yet people are marvelled by her beauty and the style of art.
Darko isn’t deep at all. That’s all. People love the movie because it deals with youth. The problems they have. The things they go through. Everyone you see on daily basis is Donnie Darko in one form or another.
Heck, Ginger Snaps is about puberty. did you know that? It’s not about werewolves at all. FUCKING METAPHORES IN MOVIES PISS ME OFF

I love Donnie Darko. One of my favorite movies. I like it cause I am a teen (17) and I can relate to the movie and the things we go through. So yeah I basically like it because of was Injurious said. But I also like it cause it has a good, weird, and confusing story. And when a movie ends and I just stare at the credits and just say wow it's an excellent movie. And I did just that with Donnie Darko. Hell I saw it for the first time in April. I watched it 6 times so far. Maybe more soon.

Dont get Ginger Snaps into this plz... |
You’ll need a story... doing shit isn't called a masterpiece if it doesn't have a story

You liked that movie didn't you?
The movie is a nice werewolf movie but the whole story behind isn't great
Dog soldiers is a good / better werewolf movie than ginger snaps imho

like lotr! fuck i never thought my ass could get numb from sitting in a theater
kill bill had a story
A woman that was beleived to be murdered wakes up believes the child she was baring has been killed and goes after those who ruined her new-life-to-be.
But yeah just like our previous argument in a different thread. It’s all a matter of taste
I didn't like darko.... i don't know if I said it before or what not... if i did (I don't think I did) I’m sorry for the confusion. The ending blew for me
Acting through the whole movie was ‘decent’... this and that and then in the end they just blew it they should have just shot the beginning scene in different angles and added it to the end. FUCK! :’(
I might watch it again haha i forgot most of it

Ending blew it? Come on man! The ending was great. Then again I don't really like happy endings. So that's probably one of the reasons why I liked it.

it's not that it wasn't a happy ending or anything it just the acting was bogus.
