Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono had his "Street Fighter IV and Beyond" panel interrupted by Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada today, with the rival fighting game makers joining together to announce two Street Fighter versus Tekken collaborations.
Street Fighter X Tekken was introduced with a teaser trailer featuring Street Fighter's Ryu facing down Tekken's Kazuya Mishima in a pre-rendered sneak peek presented in Street Fighter IV's sketchy, inky visual style. The game, pronounced "Street Fighter cross Tekken" will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Following the announcement, Ono surprised the crowd by holding up a Blu-ray disc with a copy of the game, then provided attendees with a live, playable demo.
Street Fighter X Tekken appears to feature Street Fighter IV's gameplay mechanics, locked onto a 2D plane, with both Tekken and Street Fighter characters performing EX-style super moves. The match started off with Ryu versus Kazuya Mishima, but Ono and Harada tagged in two more characters, Street Fighter's Chun-li and Tekken's Nina Williams. Ryu deployed his trademark fireball Ultra move, with Kazuya later following that up with his spinning electrified uppercut.
Harada followed that playable match with an announcement of his own, confirming that Tekken X Street Fighter is also in development at Namco. That game is rumored to play in the style of Tekken, with contestants fighting in a 3D arena.
Ono said the games won't be out "for a while" and that fighting game fans should enjoy Marvel vs. Capcom 3 while they wait.
Can I get a HELL YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!? Fucking LOVE the idea that we're getting two games; one a 2D fighter with SF and Tekken characters (cross up of the century if you ask me) and then an alternate 3D one also! When I first saw the announcement, I thought; "Oh no.. the 360 will get the 2D version and the PS3 will get the 3D one... sigh" but yay for being wrong Both consoles are getting both versions of the game.
Learn to read, dummy The SF X Tekken version is a 2D fighter using the same visual style of SF4/MvC3, made by Capcom. Namco are working on their own 3D version Tekken X Street Fighter in the 3D engine and using their own art-style. So, just like the SNK cross-overs had the trademark SNK realism.. expect Namco to do the same
However! I notice your quote author being "PC Master Race" --- I hope you're right!! We've still yet to get the updated Super SF4 .. but I'm truly hoping we at least get "SF X Tekken" since it's being built on the MT Framework. I doubt we'll see "Tekken X SF" though, since Namco have an annoying habit of completely ignoring the SHIT out of the PC platform
I have just Street Fighter 4 on the PS3 and I feel a little sad.
Super Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter vs. Tekken
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of the Two Worlds
And they are all that cell shaded, 2D-environment fighting games..
the Street Fighter X Tekken screenshots & video are from a pre-alpha build so I expect the graphics to get a little boost eventually.
are you delusional ...they aren't making a new game , just a SF4 addon with new characters called SF x TEKKEN
Don't be absurd. Super SF4 was a SF4 addon with new characters .. MvC3 isn't a SF4 "addon" with new characters, it's an entirely new game using the same engine, just like SFxT is going to be. You might as well say TxSF will be a Tekken 6 addon with new characters

you know it is .. its ... PROFIT
like Fifa2010 each game looks the same on the .. PC
Nah, the profit comes from saving development cash by reusing the same engine .. but that said; MT Framework powers some VERY diverse games. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't MT Framework also power Dead Rising and Lost Planet? Unlike the cookie-cutter UE3, I don't think you could possibly say MT-F games look anywhere NEAR similar to each other.
.... edit.....
Derp mode engaged >_< Looks like SF4 wasn't even coded on the MT-F engine! It was a custom in-house engine made by DIMPS, a Japanese coding studio! MvC3 is MT-F though >_>
Nah, each game (TxSF and SFxT) are being developed totally separate to each other - different engines, different games, different companies. Not even the same publisher, so it would make no sense to postpone the release of one in favour of the other. Ono himself even said they were in direct competition, including sales, and that neither "team" is sharing information with the other.
Yeah, somehow I doubt that each company will be making money from only one product, especially when trademarked material is used. But even if this were true, still the two companies have interest to release the games separately, as one will cut the sales of the other. If they are release separately with sufficient time apart, there are much bigger chances that people who bought one of the games would shell cash on the other as well.
you mean like
Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II - The World Warrior
Street Fighter II - Champion Edition
Street Fighter II - Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Hyper Street Fighter II
hahaha no this is not a joke they really made them
Once again, you're forgetting that Capcom *isn't* making both games. Capcom are making SFxT and Namco are making TxSF. Both games will earn royalties for both parties, so again; I don't see it being in their best interest to delay the release of one in favour of the other :\

Lets do simple math of projected sales and see if this will make it clearer.
Both games release on the same date. First sells 345000 units, the other 253000. Total 598000.
First game is release a year before. First sells 456000 units, other 336000. Total 792000.
That's what I meant. It doesn't matter who publishes or develops, they want to sell more, and people usually don't tend to buy games of the same genre at the same time. That is why shooters get pushed back instead of releasing together with COD.
Yes and I would agree if there were from the same COMPANY and PUBLISHER.. but they're not What the hell does Capcom care if Namco have less sales then them, or vice-versa? Nothing! Whoever finishes first will release first - and if they finish at the same time, they'll release at the same time. I see no reason to believe otherwise :\
Because they want there to be a Super Hyper Street Fighter X Tekken 2 Champion Edition, or whatever cross over they come up with next to make more $$$.
These are just quick bucks for them. Engine is ready, all it takes is for artists to model some arenas, model and animate fighters (of which they have some ready and others to adapt in style), ..., PROFIT!
