I'm not sure if a thread was started way back but I thought this little clip was pretty sweet and tantalising Smile

From what I've gathered most screens and videos however are concepts of how the developers want the game to look and thus pre-rendered albeit it's said they still use assets from the actual game such as models and textures.

Will be nice to see how it really looks once they release images showing the HUD or something like that.

Don't you know? all games of 2007+ are pixelfest, storyless, bland rehashes of old ideas and dumb / easy enemy wastes of time. Designed to take the money from low IQ console tards with big wallets to line the pockets of profiteering gluttons like EA.

No it isn't. It's still just target renders. The actual engine they are using (GRID's) isn't in such an advanced state of development - read previews where journalists have been privy to the actual game as opposed to these 'teasers' which are disingenuous hype generating machines.

I find most previews/interviews to be over hyped garbage as well.

The devs. ramble on and on about realistic AI, unprecedented visuals and tactics etc. etc.
Then the title releases and you see that the AI is average at best, the visuals are nothing like they were touted to be, and only certain tactics are ever worth employing.

That said, the PC desperately needs a hardcore combat title - I just don't trust Codemasters to be able to come through on even a quarter of the shit they're claiming.

Best course of action is to wait for the final and try it. No opinion quite like your own, after all Very Happy

Yeah all the trailers are teasers the one with the tank clip though is rendered in game only like a small fraction to render the sceen with the tank but it's still in the game engine. Either way if that's what is to come i'm looking forward to the other teasers

I agree, the artist responsible for it should get a pay rise.

Not real. Nothing they've shown is real gameplay footage. Everything they've shown is target render. Where the hell is Vodka Redbull btw? This is his fight, not mine Razz

Don't quote me on this but i believe Apache's (Longbow's especially) are mostly used for long range CAS while the nimbler Cobra provide close range CAS. So there might be Apache's, you just don't see them Wink

Well, there was an official AH-64 mission in OpF: Red Hammer, it was the remake of OpF convoy attacking mission - you had Shilka and Su as extra enemies.

Yeah i looked around a bit and you can pretty much scratch what i said, while Apache's operate at a long range in pure attack-missions they provide the exact same CAS as Cobra's do. So I don't know why we don't see Apache's in the screens, perhaps they are in the game but just not in those screens.

Oh and it of course depends on what branch of the military is involved. If it's the army then you'll get Apache's, if it's the marines you'll get Cobra's.

Surprised there hasn't been more activity or perhaps it's in another thread that the search engine didn't find (Probably because I did a thread title search.)

Anyway Codemasters plan a Summer 2009 release of Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising. Smile

http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=020909_6
(Probably to compete with Armed Assault 2, hopefully both games will be well supported and with minimal bugs but I doubt that, especially seeing the issues with Bohemia's Armed Assault though they've been very supportive and most of it's patched up pretty well by now.)

More screens, these look a bit different so they're probably from the actual game.
(Various jagged edges, blurrier textures and blockier models compared to the previous screens.)

Video showing the development of the game with various developer comments, shows ingame footage as well and it looks fairly good.
(Footage is a bit pixelated despite the large filesize.)
