Quote: | The sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum has been revealed as Batman: Arkham City.
The game will be released in autumn 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Game Informer website spilled the beans as part of a teaser for an upcoming issue of the magazine.
Of note in the illustrations provided is Catwoman. She stands back-to-back with Batman, with the caped crusader holding her whip. She's also pictured dangling upside, bound in chains.
According to a press release that's just popped through our virtual letterbox: "Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security 'home' for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.
"Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight." |

High hopes for this one. The 1st was a top game, with only a few cons (like the stupid detective view). Can't wait.

I loved aa, had some of the most fun and satisfying combat ive seen in a long time, but everything else was perfect too, especially the atmosphere and artistic design/direction.
no, wait, i lie.. there was one REALLY stupid decision the designers made that pissed me off... yeah it worked 95% of the time, sure, but the save system.. oh man that thing fucked me over i was so pissed... corrupted save right before the final boss battle... rage deleted the game... took me half a year before i reinstalled it and finished it... yeah i know pure autosave systems arent new or even all that rare, but starting up the game one day, ready to rock my way through the end of the game, and finding 'save corrupted' and NOTHING i could do about it, was just heartbreaking... I hope for AC they sort it out.. make like a redundant backup save system or SOMETHING so that i dont get the 'fuck you, start again, punk! message again... HEART. BREAKING.
and before you say it, yes i know the autosaving rules.. i didnt quit out of the game suddenly.. i made sure to wait till the autosave icon was gone, and gave it a couple of extra seconds before quitting properly...

interesting ^^
anyway, i guess arkham city is the district inside gotham city (like manhatten to new jork city etc).

Yeah, they closed off an area of the city that was already infested with lunatics, murderers and thieves and then just added the asylum crew. And then put a wall surroundin the place.

I'm really looking forward to this. 'Arhkam City' is a bit dull but the devs are probably referring to the residential area around Arkham asylum and not the whole city of Gotham.

I didn't buy AA but I will buy this one. They deserve that much for producing quality software. Besides it's not like I have to 'test' it first as they've earned my trust as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for the information!
