It's also the clients, do they still use CUDA on NVIDIA cards?

Don't think so.
I'll just quote bit-tech on it.
Quote: | With these results in mind, we have to conclude that quite frankly, all the models of the ATI Radeon HD 5000-series of graphics cards are pathetically slow and inefficient folders.
To be honest though, this didn't come as much of a surprise to us. Ever since the first Nvidia GPU could fold, the legendary GeForce 8800 GT, ATIs GPUs have been in the shade of the speedy green demon.
There are various reasons suggested for this, ranging from accusations that's ATI hasn't optimised its CAL compiler very well, to Nvidia simply providing better support to Stanford when it was writing the various folding clients. |

Load of crap and you know it.
Yeah, the bulk of GPU sales certainly lies within "the geek crowd who buy multiple gpus and run farms dedicated to folding".
And you say that Charlie Demerjian is full of shit?

Not the bulk of sales etc and not that it's going to bankrupt them.
Don't be such a over dramatic retard. | Tell you what, you stop being an Nvitard first and I'll see what I can do about it, ok?

Many sales compared to what?
Mainstream cards?
High end cards?
So?

That's obvious to all but a retard like yourself and doesn't need explaining.
Folding@home is done on MILLIONS of gpus worldwide.
There is your perspective.
Again..

Ok here is a small list of people who USE folding at home and as such potential customers.
Many have multiple gpus dedicated to folding and upgrade them whenever they can get those few more points.
Do you still think there is no market for gpu sales on folding @home?
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/daily_user_summary.txt
Come up with something concrete to say that all this is wrong and folding@home does not create many gpu sales or...
You guessed it.
Shut the fuck up retard.

So showing hardware performance differences in the hardware section makes you a fantard of whatever is the highest performing?
What if this was a thread dedicated to cpu performance amd vs intel over folding@home?
I never started with any butthurt fanboy shit in here.
People bringing it need to look in the mirror.

No offence mate, but you've got a pretty cast-iron rep here as being a huge nVidia supporter who posts nothing but hate and bias against the other camp, ignoring and flaming anything and everything that supports the other side over nVidia. The very definition of this is a fanboy, whether it's deliberate or not.

No, but you did post something you knew was going to be inflammatory - the thread title is evident.
Not that I give a shit any way, I don't care who/what "FOLDs" better because as far as I'm concerned, people that FOLD are brainless puppets anyway. You go right ahead and "FOLD!!!" for these universities and what not, you're not helping the world - you're just going to end up lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies who will end up profiting from the computer power of a million sheep all working to create their next "treatment" I just think it's silly to post something like this, with the wording you used, and then act defensive when people object, that's all.

Dude. Chill.
First of all I've never said that there was no market for GPU sales. What I said, and what I stand by, is that that market really doesn't matter much when compared every other GPU market.
So "losing many sales" == bullshit.
There. I said it.
Slizza wrote: | Many have multiple gpus dedicated to folding and upgrade them whenever they can get those few more points. | Also I highly doubt this. I mean, just look at what you posted.
Those users are more than likely hardware enthusiasts or have near the same hardware knowledge as them.
Are they likely to upgrade form a GTX285 to a GTX470 or a GTX480 to score more 2000-4000 points a day? In exchange for all that extra power consumption?

So I don't 'fold at home' Big fucking deal. If ppl don't wanna do that it's their right, and making such lame ass condescending posts won't make us start folding... Oh the guilt
And why the hell should he get aids? Are you fucking retarded or?
Stupidity of ppl never cease to amaze me...

FYI; I've got asthma (surprise! I have to live with a ridiculously expensive "treatment" for the rest of my life because of some cuntish company that deems treatment more profitable than cure) and I've had cancer and meningitis. I feel no different about folding. It's a ridiculous scam and all you do is help universities develop treatments, which will then be sold to a company who will rape the shit out of you for the rest of your life.
That's okay though. You can sit there and fold away on your ridiculous hardware, helping the rich get richer and the poor suffer the expense of it.

Medication is free only if you're a filthy dosser sucking the economy dry like a parasite on "welfare"
..... so what are you? You're from the UK (so am I) and I know exactly how healthcare works. You pay for medication unless you're a dole dosser or on a silly low income, or under 16.
Urgh. Nevermind, don't answer. Obvious troll is obvious. The thread is flamebait and the OP is a troll.
