 Spoiler:

Synopsis:

Quote:
BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.

Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

Well, it's Bioshock 3 Very Happy Could be fun since this is set in the clouds in an earlier era (1912). Smile[/spoiler]

Ken Levine, but sounds like a rehash of the story in Bioshock 2, where you had to rescue one specific girl. Only now it's in the clouds Rolling Eyes

I wonder if it'll still be art deco as well, that would be a problem seeing as the game takes place in 1912 and art deco wasn't "invented" until 1920.
But who am I kidding, a flying town held up by a few zeppelins....wat. How do they account for structural integrity with all this moving around and swaying in the wind when it's brick buildings which probably weigh a couple million tonnes as well. Laughing

I am thinking more a steam-punk setting would fit a lot better. Wink

He's mentioned but I don't know if Ken is active in the project aside from that, not much to go on as it was just revealed.

(As was posted in the Bioshock 1 thread long ago they wanted to make it a franchise and now they've done so, at least it's not yearly like CoD or such to use a popular example.)

They should try space next time; Space is more dangerous than water; plus it's a good place for any "anti-social" community.

Unless it's a new universe, how in hell are they going to fit this story with the Rapture story? Confused

I mean, how can the United States have technology to build a sky city in 1910s and the world stays exactly the same after two wars?

Oh, the tech in Rapture is a stretch, I don't deny that. But the story around Rapture building itself is strongly tied to what Andrew Ryan suffered on the Stalinist Russia and the New Deal USA and his misbelieve on the world after the Second World War and the nuking of Hiroshima. The game basically tells us that the world is basically the same as ours until the late 1940s.

Now I'm supposed to believe that the US built a fucking flying city just ten years after the invention of the airplane and the world would stay the same as our until 1946? Confused

Most likely the game will be good, but the story is a bit head scratching.

Keep milking the cow..

I doubt it'll be in any way completely revolutionnary to the previous games' gameplay, I'm really, really doubtful over that "fight in the sky" stuff.
The trailer looked somehow cool, got me hyped up a little, and then the cheesy moment at which the girl got taken away killed me and all the hype that had built up along with it Laughing

Timester: Yeah I see your point, but I think they'll be able to build a pretty convincing background around this.
Rapture is as awkward an idea as this new city seems to be, I'm pretty sure they'll build a wireframe around it. Listening to journals and the such was always the most enjoyable part of the Bioshock experience, for me at least.

Ofcourse it won't. They made a science out of pitching us the same old thing. And each time the game finally releases it's underwhelming.

I really hoped for a new IP along the lines of System Shock. Sad
