I've been trying out a few source control platforms recently for a solo project I'm working on my home computer, but I haven't been able to tell which one will fit me the most.
So far I tried TortoiseSVN but for some reason I don't like it much. Too messy, and clumsy...
I got some experience with ClearCase and I like it, but I don't have it on my home computer, and I think it may be difficult to deploy it.
Can anyone suggest me a simple, powerful, easy to deploy source control platform that will fit for a solo-local project?
I'm mainly working with Silverlight (C#+XAML) and PHP.
VS, Netbeans and Eclipse (and thus Aptana) all have plugins for all the big version control systems: Git, SVN, Mercurial (also called 'Hg', the chemical abbreviation for mercurial). For one specific IDE the plugins for the various systems are often really similar, making it easy to switch between them
SVN is by far the easiest to use and set up, but it'll also prove to be limited when you're working with other people, but that isn't an issue here so I'd still suggest SVN.
Edit: Visual Studio doesn't, but the opensource IDE's all keep a local history btw if that's why you want to use a versioning system (avoiding overwriting your own shit).
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
