During the press conference at the gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany, Deep Silver confirmed officially that Piranha Bytes and Deep Silver are currently working on "Risen 2". Daniel Oberlerchner, brand manager of Deep Silver, also reported this in our forum.
While this is no big surprise for most people, it should discard any speculations and rumours about other projects (i.e. Gothic 5) currently developed by Piranha Bytes. The next game will definitely be a successor to Risen.

I can admit Risen could have been better nearing the end and the final boss battle. But all in all its a fucking amazing game.

Risen was decent, but really fell apart after the first few chapters. Hopefully they can improve, I'll be interested to see how it goes.

Strange, I finished it and didn't really find anything different between the start and the end of the game, it was nice all long. Only trouble I had with it is that it was the exact same game as Gothic2 with better gfx.

While the first part was RPG brilliance, the second part was a simple dungeon crawler with meh combat. PB obviously couldn't handle the deadline again, so they quickly finished it up. Good thing they polished their game this time though.

Yeah I got so bummed out when I got the first quest to find the armor.. it was such an excellent game until that point.

Now I have even more respect for Piranha Bytes. They clearly love what they do, they don't do it just for money. Very simple video, but very nice too.

I think the biggest fear now is them dumbing it down because it probably sold poorly on the console.

Then i will shed a tear. Gothic has been 1 of my absolute favorite franchises since the day i tried Gothic 2. Went on playing Gothic 1 after that. Piranha bytes in my opinion has shown no interest in what their fans wants in the past (give fucking old combat system back) so we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed. At least there is 1 recent similar game which is Divinity 2.

Well to be fair they could have done it with the first and didn't, so you never know. Chances are it will happen, but we may be pleasantly surprised. |

Risen was fockin' great. Totally redeems them of the shame of Gothic 3... even though it could have been better in the last 2 chapters. The last boss was pretty crap
