For the life of me I cannot get my 360 to update via USB stick.

I have $SystemUpdate_9199 on the root of the stick, files are inside.

I have made sure a million times over that the stick was formatted as FAT32, but when I pop the usb stick in the 360, nothing happens.

All docs say it should prompt me for an update, but there is nothing, nothing happens at all.

WTF?

Could be the stick isn't recognised mate. Try burning the $systemupdate folder to the root of a CD or DVD and try that?

I can successfully browse the USB stick inside the 360 dashboard (video, music, pictures), and can even open the $SystemUpdate_9199 folder, but it doesn't do a damn thing.

I'd burn it to a disc but I don't have any... and I don't feel like getting any. Wink

Aw damn Sad I'll have a browse around for you, see if I can turn something up.

-edit-

Oh! Apparently it works if you just have the folder called $SystemUpdate -- no numbers or anything at the end. Failing that, since you're not on the 9199 update yet, have you trie loading a VERY recent game? Odds are that would have the latest dashboard on the disk.

-edit again-

Hmmm, there is only one other solution I'm finding from a search.. and that is; you're already ON the latest system software. If you're already on the latest, you don't get the prompt from the USB files. What's your dashboard revision, please dude?

Yah I ended up re-downloading the file, and just named the folder $SystemUpdate, also removed the HDD from the system when I booted it, for whatever reason, it worked this time.

Thanks for the input sabin.
