A little history first. Read this: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67114

Now, http://venturebeat.com/2011/03/03/loot-drop-banks-on-talented-game-designers-as-it-takes-on-social-gamings-giants-exclusive/

Moving with speed was important, Romero said, because “the game industry is dropping down on top of social.” Veterans are flooding into the new social game studios.

Adds Romero, “We have satisfied hardcore gamers for decades. Now it’s time for the rest of the world. Our opportunity is to teach the rest of the world how to play games.

About the people "behind" the company:

Quote:
Rattling off the bios of these founders is like taking a walk through video game history. Hall will be the studio head and game designer at Loot Drop’s Austin, Texas studio. He has worked with Romero at places such as id Software and Ion Storm. Most recently he was an executive at KingsIsle Entertainment, maker of the popular Wizard 101 online virtual fantasy world that was inherently social from the start. Robert Sirotek, co-founder of Sir-Tech Software, will serve as chief executive of Loot Drop. Sirotek’s previous company released 138 games over 26 years, including Brathwaite’s Wizardry and Jagged Alliance series.

Actually what he is really saying is he and his colleagues have gotten lazy. Its easy to make a brainless game with a lack of well thought out content. Its also cheaper to do but won't sell very well.Let them go bankrupt. We don't need his kind. Its that kind of thinking that has seriously damaged the industry. This is what happens when its all about dollar signs and nothing else.

you have no idea just how true this is.

The guy was a dope smoking lame brain, who believes his own hype. Christ if I was given a million dollars by Eidos, I'd make dam sure I actually built and designed something people would want to play.

Seriously leave game development to grown ups who know what their doing.

What exactly were these gamnes this guys satisfied us with for years?

Edit; argh nevermind, i should read properly before replying. I was wondering wtf "Romeo" was, it's John Romero Funny how one game (Daikatana) can ruin a guy. He was so talented and the "Ion Storm guy". Without this guy's "do whatever the fuck you like guys" and eye for talent, we would never had had games like Deus Ex and Anachronox. What a shame.

I don't think he was involved in Deus Ex. But Anachronox...such an underrated and underplayed masterpiece!

I kinda liked the cliffhanger ending. Left me wanting for more!

I read once that the actual game is only 50% of what they planned. And still there's so much in it.

Without Romero Spector wouldn't have had the chance to develop Deus Ex. Romero basically gave Spector a blank cheque to do whatever he wanted. None of teh big publishers at that time wanted Deus Ex.

Actually it's doing very well. It's one of the most successful F2P facebook games..

Currently it's far more probable to go bankrupt by trying to create the next CoD..

let me guess it'll be this game where you place buildings, and every so often you click them to gain bonuses, and as you level up you can place more buildings, and if you get some allies you can build some special buildings if everyone clicks your link.

Good riddance. No more crappy crap from Romero, the biggest mouth in the industry (only challenged by Cliffy B).
