It's basically a first person mining thingie game sort of.
You run a round place blocks, destroy blocks, craft tools, minecarts and such.
Pretty fun, pretty addicting.

I'm playing it, had this game for like 3 weeks already, i'm addicted to this game as hell, once i was playing survival for like 12hours straight. Survival mode is awesome, even though the game is still in Alpha, but is rapidly nearing beta it plays without any problems.. Classic build mode is free and not so fun to play, so dev will be slowly phasing it out. It's a game developed by one person, and already sold 130k copies. ~6k copies a day. You can see the statistics on the main page.
Oh and for all you playing this game, don't forget, today's friday, and there's a spicy friday update incoming. Also, next weeks update will include mob's for survival mp.
For people interested in this game i would recommend to watch
X's Adventures in Minecraft series, beware it's also addicting as hell to watch.

At first i was like "meh.. ugly game", but after playing it abit, i was like "ohhh shit, it's morning already?"
Spoiler:
One of the best forts build in survival mode, ever. The guy didn't use any hacks to build it, can't imagine how much resources was needed to build this.

I knew about this some time ago but foolishly thought to myself, "who the fuck would play this?".
Recently, a friend convinced me to try it following the release of survival multiplayer and well, my ignorance was made very apparent. Just be prepared to lose a lot of time to it as its very addictive.
Also to note at present, survival multiplayer isn't quite as functional as singleplayer survival but its still pretty decent (today's update will no doubt help with that). I would suggest you try singleplayer first to get the full impression.
This is epic as well (just to show what you are able to do in this game)
Most epic cart ride I have seen to this moment!
edit:
oh yeah, and I could go on about how it's good to support small indie devs with great ideas. Like this, or Dwarf Frotress and the likes but that's another topic alltogether

tually know that torches prevent enemies from spawning
Yeah, I'm stupid like that.
Lmao.. also did you know that you can make mob spawners stop spawning mobs with 4 torches on 4 sides? Then you can make your own little mob factory, for some resources. Too bad it would be not that close to your home.

anyways, how do you people find your way from your spawn point to your main base /shelter / whatever?
Alot of times I just get lost as hell on the way and never find my base again :sad panda:

My main base is near the spawn location, so i don't have problems finding it. If i'm too far from the base, and i'm freakin out because i'm lost and can't find my way home, i always use Cartograph tool, it makes a big map of your world and it really helps. It also can make a map of all the cave systems currently generated in your world.
Hm. Gotta mark the spawn point then. Otherwise it's too much a hassle to find my way
What I did at one point, after getting pissed off greatly that I, again, had trouble finding my way home is I built this:

Where did I get all the stone for that?
I'm glad that you asked. Took me quite a while to get it done

Meh, i don't really like to mine for cobblestone, just for this type of stone i build cobblestone generator in my main base.
You can make your own, just know the formula:
Water + Magma = Stone
Water + Magma Spring = Obsidian
You can find videos on youtube for how it should look, there's alot of them actually and with different stylings. Just type in the search bar "cobblerstone generator"
Paypal. On the 25’th, they limited my account for unspecified reasons (a suspicious withdrawal or deposit! wow, thank you for that amazingly detailed information), and asked me for a bunch of vague documents. I did my best to give them what they asked for.
My account is still limited. I’ve called them three times, they keep telling me it’s being reviewed. Most recently they told me it’d take up to two more weeks for it to get resolved, and that if they decide something bad’s being going on, they’re going to keep the money.
There’s over 600000 euro in there. Money I was planning on investing in the new company.
I’m sure it’ll get sorted out, but this is kind of frustrating.
[edit:] Just to clear things up: I withdraw everything from paypal every week. They limited my account just as sales started spiking, so this money has accumulated since they limited the account.
Bought this about 3 months ago and i'm still loving it. Can't wait for Notch to fix the inventory bugs and multiplayer finnaly becomes playable! You can spend way too much time in this game, digging underground lairs, castles...shit's so cash! It's gonna be much more fun with friends too.
Got some of my pics here:
Yes, played it, bought it, love it! Pretty addicted to it. Even after a terrible event in my first game that made me swear the game off, I ended up back into it worse than ever. It's just got that "je ne sais quoi" that appeals to the inner old school gamer. The community around it, including modding, is also as good as you'd expect.
Here are some links that will help people get started (you can find many of these off the main site if you look around, but here they are for ease):
These are the kind of games I like.
Something different and imaginative.
I may have to get this.
I wonder if there are any plans on "upping' the graphics a bit? If it looked like 3d Dot Heroes. . . it would be really pretty and still keep the same charm I think.
Man, the dude made 600k euro with that? Not half bad for a year spent working on it; would seem like quite a success story for a lone, independent developer.
@Big_Gun
my char in minecraft looks like the hero from 3d dot game heroes
@mArkAntonioo
I really can't believe that paypal still tries to fuck people over like that :/
edit (yet again):
there is actually a texture pack that makes the game world look like that of 3d dot game heroes but I haven't taken a look at it so I can't say if it's any good at all.

Yep, Big_Gun's question was more or less identically asked (same reference title) on the official Minecraft forums, and that texture pack was suggested.
Notch (the Minecraft developer) has stated the intention of keeping the graphics the way they are, however the engine does have support for HD textures up to 512 (16x16 is the default). Some texture packs contain HD sets that use 32+, although there are some issues with animation (water/lava) and certain blocks (bricks) at the moment.
What is multiplayer survival about? Is it like X's adventure's video (but wtih more people)
Correct, but it doesn't have some of the features yet from the SP Survival. Features like - no mobs, no server side inventory, furnaces and buckets don't work correctly, but some mods help repairing there three last problems. Mobs will be included in next weeks update. No info about the changes in todays upcoming update. Short story, MP Survival is just like SP mode, but with more people, and it really doubles the fun playing this amazing piece of work.
Edit: It's stable, even though it's an Alpha version. Had no trouble playing it SP or MP.
For Dedicated Servers i would recommend using MCAdmin tool. There's not just one tool for making your own servers, but i found MCAdmin best for my needs. It makes backups, saves the present world, it's stable, and is updated constantly.
Minecraft update: Server-side inventory, working furnaces, working chests, working signs, and monsters! (you can't hurt them yet)
The monsters can't hurt you either, btw. But the creeper can explode. AND BOY DOES IT EVER
There are two small updates for singleplayer as well. Both extremely useful.
The monsters default to being disabled, btw. You need to edit server.properties to turn them on.
Updating now.
Edit:
Proper News(not from twitter):
Spoiler:
The Seecret Friday part ended up being extremely tiny this time around, but that’s because I made sure to add this:
+ Added server-side inventory
+ Made the server save player locations when they leave the server
+ Made chests work in SMP
+ Made signs work in SMP
+ Made furnaces work in SMP
+ Added monsters=false to server.properties. You can turn it on for experimental monsters, but you can’t hurt them directly yet. (Fire works, though!)
But this is NOT SECURE YET! I decided to just focus on making it functional first so I actually got it out.
I’ll work on inventory security and server-side health management next week. Server-side health means you’ll be able to fight monsters and perhaps even other players.
Please be patient while the server tries to keep up with sending out all the updated clients!

Yeah, I play this game, it's pretty damn fun, haven't played for a while though, but might as well start doing so soon I got a bit ticked off the game because of the stupid multiplayer client atm.
