I've got pretty much everything I want/need for my pc now except the ability to pickup TV/Radio stations via my computer. So is there any good reliable addon pci/pci-e 1x/2x card out there that anyone has personal experience with. Don't want to waste my time spend my money and end up RMA'ing.
I don't have cable but the ability to pickup the radio from my pc would be awesome and it would be nice if it didn't require any subscription. Looking for a piece of hardware that is fully functional without monthly/yearly subscriptions. Local stations would be fine but a world wide TV/Radio functionality would be pretty sweet.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but analog TV broadcasts through the air (good old antenna) is gone (or will be soon) in the US right? Even so, you'd only have a limited selection of channels.
As far as radio goes, any TV tuner hooked up to an antenna input will do. I assume your radio stations still do normal broadcasting into the ether right? You'd be able to get the same stations you can get in your car for example
Yeah I actually built one of those antennas I found on you-tube someone else posted in these forums. I get the basic channels and that's all I really want anyway. It gives me a way to catch up on news and such when I'm in the mood for it. Analog Broadcasts are dead in a way, now I don't get channel 5 instead now it is 5.1 which is actually HD, but yeah it is still coming through the air. The deadline was like earlier this year in the spring.
To top it off I think it would be cool to have a way to capture live analog radio signals and turn my PC into a radio. That way I wouldn't have to launch i-Radio on my phone or turn on my alarm clock radio which is by my bed.
