Im not sure where I have been living lately but Arcania: Gothic 4 is news to me!
I played the original Gothic and Gothic II to death on the PC. Gothic 3 was just a bug filled mess that my PC barely ran anyway lol.
Needless to say this is the first game in the Gothic series on the consoles and I eagerly await this one with anticipation!
I only hope its not another Two Worlds ...
May the NFOrce be with you always.

The x360/PC (PS3 vers is delayed until Q1 2010) demo's out for some time, so you should give that a try.
Other than some minor fps slowdowns and issues I'm having with the control ( for jump, instead of ), it seems like a decent action/RPG. At least on the x360.

I'm always so excited for the Gothic games, until they come out and everyone tells me how bad they are.
Hopefully I can get in on this one.
Good luck
Well that's the only AI dumbness I've encountered in the demo. Actually I haven't even noticed it because I finished off those fuckers long before they got close.
p.s. maybe they cast fireballs with their eyes closed?
Do they eve have eyes, being undead mummified mages/soldiers?
From the demo, it seems like it's more easier than the other Gothic games. When I entered that forest, heading for that witch, I was expecting a boar to jump out of nowhere and rape my character. Gothic 3 style.
Oh wow so basically the only chance of dying in this game is if you fell asleep ?
No, you just select 'hard' before beginning a new game. Problem solved.

hmm well the question is.. is it a good idea to grab this game for the 360?
gothic is traditionally a pc game series so I doubt that a console version can keep up with the pc version.
not only interface wise, but also performance wise and it's gothic so it's probably buggy as hell so the pc version will probably be the safest in that regard..
does anyone have some insight on that? I didn't play the demo so I'm not sure what to expect

Gothic 4 on PC is out of the question for me. My current PC would struggle with the orignal Gothic game! Ive given up on PC gaming since my graphics card died so I run onboard video lol. And for that reason I am so grabbing this for my Xbox360.

Same here. Gothic II barely runs on my netbook lol.

Some info about 360 version:
Quote:
Vision Engine 7 – the middleware powering Gothic IV – does have some limitations however. On the Xbox 360 version, the engine cranks out organic textures, self-shadowing and dynamic lighting... at the expense of a smooth framerate. The game still runs moderately well, but choppiness is noticeable from the outset and rarely improves. The trade-off is probably fair; the game world is lovingly populated with details, and combat occasionally throws as many as half a dozen enemies at the player at once.
