You know what? FO3 and this game is the ONLY games I have ever played where I'm unable to adjust the settings to give me CONSISTENT performance! Mad

With FO3 I had stutter galore throughout the game, and it seems that it will be the same shit with NV.
I'm sick and tired of trying all kinds of halfassed "Solutions" that is suggested by people who decided that they found a fix after testing their solution for only 10 minutes...

Even if I turn everything down to lowest and disable certain things, I get a fucking stutterfest, maybe not during the first 10 minutes, but it will happen soon after.

This Gamebryo Engine is an abortion, and I hope Bethesda goes bankrupt (I know, pipedream).

My specs:
Q6600 2.40Ghz
GF8800GTS(G92)512Vram
2Gb DDR2 ram
Win XP Pro 32bit

I'm not impressed by your specs.

Anyway, go play some other game if you don't respect Bethesda.

P.S.: You should upgrade to an octacore @ 1.8 ghz

You want some serious advice for your not-so-serious gaming rig ?

Time to reinstall fresh. Win7 32bit.

Or upgrade to 4gb and install Win7 x64.

^^This.^^

The biggest bottleneck, it appears, is your ram and GPU. That processor isn't so bad, but it's time to replace that GPU with something newer if you want to increase performance/ decrease stutter. I had an 880GTX back when FO3 came out and it had stuttering issues. I had to drop everything that made the game look good down to minimalist settings. And even then, I had problems. I know that this isn't what you wanted to hear, but sometimes the truth isn't what we want to hear and what we hear isn't always the truth...

I hear you guys. I just haven't felt a need for upgrading since I can run some of the most graphically demanding games (Crysis, Metro2033, Stalker) just fine on above medium settings.

And you must admit that Nv and Fo3 isn't exactly pretty. Have anybody tried it on consoles? I'm wondering how it looks on those platforms... How is the Gfx on those? is it like everything on low for the pc?

You might want to give the d3d9.dll "fix" a try mate. It won't be magical, but it should net you enough of a perf-boost to make the game relatively enjoyable for you <3

http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1331451#1331451

It gave me almost a 30% perf-boost in all scenarios.

I just tried that, and it seems to have helped, but is it just me or is HDR disabled when that file? The sun doesn't seem as bright as it used to.
Btw. the launcher thinks that my GF8800(G92) is 7900GS, but I guess it's the .dll that does that.

Ps. I have become the guy everybody likes to hate on the Steam forums, because I made a thread about this issue and used harsh language Very Happy

I feel like I made a Mohammed drawing Very Happy Despite the fact that I have stated that I was too harsh, people keep posting in my thread with noting but comments like "THE OP HAS BEEN REPORTED FOR BAD MOUTHING"

Aye, it shows my card (4870-1GB) as being a 7900GS as well.. but it still works absolutely fine and I haven't noticed any quality loss either. I'm enjoying the performance boost Very Happy

not true in fact, my middle-range gig has core2duo e6750, 4 Gb RAM and Geforce 450GTS 1 Gb VRAM and on resolution like 1440x900 I can run New Vegas very very smooth (60fps) on High Settings with MSAA 4x and AFx16 with beautiful graphics.
