File: Src\EngineClientManager.cpp

(Press Retry to debug the application - JIT debugging must be enabled)
then it gives me windows error......
all i did was extract the files into the HL2 directory and removed the steam.dll.offline and replaced with new one, then changed it like the .nfo said

allways make a backup before you patch anything....
anyway im downloading the update to let you know if it works for me!!

It's not only steam.dll.offline that should be removed. You should also remove steam.dll.

Does this work with the vengeance release and if so how do you install it? The dirs are not the same.

As an owner of the retail version, I would advise against patching the game.
The release version worked well for many, then they patched it to cure some problems, and for about 80% of the retail people, problems were worse.
VAVLe is STILL working on a fix for these problems.
They have also not given us a method to roll-back our versions.

Isn't this patch only for the Provision release? I would really like to know that because I'm using that version for single player because It's faster than the bought one.

well the patch is needed to play cs on legit servers, so with no patch how will people play?

this doesnt work for VNG release..and I've been looking and haven't seen/heard that VNG is doing an updated patch,tho as fast as Steam is updating crap I can understand why they are waiting..
I can still play HL2, HL2-Dm, but CS:S is so screwed its not even funny..
Its the
[TEMP] Your version does not match restart game
or whatever the hell it is..
so from what I've seen you can d/l and install prov and their updates or sit here and wait for VNG..
I'm waiting for now..

I've both VNG & PROViSiON, but i've install VNG first, so waiting for VNG update
