Hi all.

I didn't make the first part on nfo hump but I'll merge them in this one thread.
What it is last Sunday, the one b4 the Sunday just gone.
I was suspended from work, i work at the premier inn hotel in the uk.
Shit job believe me.
I got suspended for muttering the word 'to myself' of fuck.
I kid you not.
I've denied saying fuck all along and said i said for gods sake.
As it was a customer who 'allegedly' heard me say it therefore, complained, and got 'his full refund'.
So I've been suspended ever since, still am.
Today i got a letter through the post saying for me to come into work tomorrow for another disciplinary.
And in the letter it say's they have, get this.
Checked 'MY PERSONAL FACEBOOK PAGE', to get information of what I've been saying , 'while i was suspended', so this has nothing to do with my job at all.
And now they are trying to say they are going to question me from information they got off muy personal facebook page as to what i said about the company and managers.
Now i wanna know where i stand?
Are they allowed to do this seeing how this is nothing to do with the work i am doing at this poxy company?
It's so far fetched all this is gone beyone the point of being pointless.
Why not either warm me?
Sack me?
Gert it over and done with?
Because i ain't stopping here now.
Gone way to far.

you have no place to stand, if you have been bad mouthing in "public" if your wall is readable by all, then you are fucked in the ass Very Happy

Facebook has been used time and time again to catch employees with bad vibes to bosses etc, if its private then u lock it out so no fucker can see it but immediate friends, never let bosses or work colleagues friends or not i say be able to see ur facebook banter Very Happy

Its happened with my misses and the hospital she works at and it never ends nicely.(Although fortunate she was not the target this time Very Happy ). its just another way to fuel fires and get people either A) reacting incorrectly to text misinterpreted or B) people not being able to stop butting in on other matters that dont concern them.

Ill have to anchor my bets on 80% probability that your about to loose your job..

It's illegal. Methinks. At least here. As long as you stay professional at work and don't have any major clients on your Facebook...

they're just looking for a reason to fire you.
isn't there a a a a a a board of employment of something i forgot the name for it here.... it's pretty much a place where you can make a complaint about your employer if you're being treated unfairly or if you've been fired unfairly.

It's all just so, so petty.
I've denied from day 1 that i swore.
There saying that i swore and 2 people heard it and the customer who complained and got 'a free stay'.
Why not just suspend me or warn me there and then and say' come back on this date'.
Lesson learnt.
But i wouldn't accept that as I've categorically denied saying it.
I think there after there own bunch there.
But the thing that really,. really rattles me is, I'm never late, always in on time, and have been told many times that my work is one of the best is the building?
So why not just do what i said and just warn me carry on as normal and if it happened again, fire me?
Fucking joke this is.
And i totally agree with waldo here, there might of got here to add me as a friend on facebook.
Pathetic.

thats just silly, why would they do that, lower a salary knowing u got disgruntled employee now still working for u say at front desk? who is more likely to swear if he didnt now?

He will get the tintac, if not a final warning and will be looking for any slip up he makes to just boot his ass out..

Bosses for the most part tend to be a bit anal like this... Hard to find a good one these days Very Happy

Sorry that you got two bad breaks. Getting a shitty customer AND a company that is taking things too far by going through your facebook.

Although, for your part, you did express yourself less than cordially in front of a customer. It doesn't really matter what you said because as far as the customer is concerned you said something impolite and that's what matters.

As for the facebook thing, anything you post on the net is public domain so it's not really personal stuff. And that includes this little rant if it can be traced back to you.

I don't think they're going to fire you because if that was the case they would have already done it. Just don't lose your temper in the 'hearing'. By all means defend yourself but also admit where you went wrong. Good luck.

I cannot believe they give a shit that you swore. I'd ignore what they say regarding facebook; they shouldn't have had access anyway and I suspect the union you are in would help you on this.

They probably cannot fire you, just give you a warning. Accept it and don't do it again!

Thats one of the reason's I've hidden my facebook account from the search, my posts are viewable only from friends, and have none of the bosses are added as friends.

If they still read it, I can probably sue them for acquiring personal information.

That's exactly what's happened noose.
The hotel has what they call a good night guarantee.
If there unhappy they get a refund if they can prove it.
In this case the guy said i said something as i left to do my job.
He's gone, fully refunded, didn't have to prove a thing.
So his smarmy comments has got me sacked.
I've a disciplinary tomoz again.
And it still isn't proven.

I've done absolutely nothing wrong since I've been there.

i think you can speak with a lawyer for your movements and if he fired
you, you can ask for reimbursement

if you have nothing to lose go ahead

close the fucking facebook!! there are similar examples that companies fired their stuff because they found that they did parties naked etc

if you said fuck to your self you didnt commit nothing wrong

if he said it to himself the customer would not of heard it, it was probably muttered under breath, and the guy had good hearing lol Very Happy.. either way you dont let customers here your problems via bad bucket mouth chit chat, keep it in the staff room and outside work.. Its not hard its policy of most workplaces to not be rude swear or be a jerk... Not everyone you meet in public is tolerant..

To be honest, and think lying was the wrong thing to do, at one point I was slightly more successful than I am now and i had a similar thing where someone who was under me (I was a manager) had lost his temper with a customer and the customer complained. When i spoke to the bloke he admitted he lost his cool and apologized to the customer and personally I thought more of him for admitting losing his cool and that was it. We have all lost our temper with people and although we shouldn't do it I would imagine most people have sworn under their breath about something, and anyone who says they have not are full of shit.

It's not about some word that he may or may not have said to the customer or to himself. Ten bucks says that the word 'attitude' will come up in the hearing. And that's what it's about. Unfair though it may seem, in the hospitality industry (or anywhere where you are in direct contact with customers) you're supposed to keep smiling in the face of shit.

I didn't swear at all.
I mumbled under my breath 'for god's sake'.
As it was a busy day and i wanted to get home early as we would be working late due to the longer day.
It's pathetic is what it is.
If one of these fuckers say's a word out of place tomoz with me.
I might just loose it lol.
As they can stick there job up there ass.
It was a shitty job anyway, been looking for a new job these last few weeks.#
