In typical valve (and a lot of companys now) style, they say "there is going to be no demo"
Let tens of thousands of people buy the game (and some are disapointed / have problems) then they do a demo.

Could be nice for people who haven't played it yet. Sounds weird that it would take 3.5gb. That's almost as much as the retail install.

man, why didnt they create a demo like the HL1 demo: Uplink?
I mean a custom scenario where u get some history about the univerrse, that didnt appear in the full game...

i mean you have the engin, you have all your tools.. how long does it take to make a small 5 minute demo, no more than 5 minutes since the game itself is like 10 hours and that's if you stop at each box you see, take out ur grav gun, pick it up and throw it, then laugh and move to the next box

what are you complaining about? 1. its free 2. its on their own servers too so they arekid paying for it 3. people who bought the game weren't disappointed with the graphuics or gameplay just the length so how can this justify NOT releasin a demo.

max why the hell would it be the full game partially locked? they KNOW about it being cracked (they're not blind) just think about whats in the game thats not on 1 level? the physics some textures etc aren't in there, but the bulk of it is present all the time.

100% sure this is NOT the full game cos it comes on 5 CDs and the download would fit on one CD. Also I doubt it eats 3.5 gigs. Interestingly ATi is hosting this demo. I bet alot of people will leech this, resulting in massive bandwidth requirements.

People are never satisfied with free things. Second it’s paid for it becomes the bestest thing ever even if it isn’t so. “I paid for it therefore it’s the best!’ Fuck em I say. People lack respect for things. They are oh so fucking elite cause they can download at infinity+1 terabytes a second then bitch at quality of the free product they illegally obtained.

I actually wonder if this demo can be used to play the HL1:Source mod on, figuring that mod only needs the engine & none of the extra levels & models that are only foundin the full HL2...
