Title says it all.
I do realize most ASCII games are roguelikes (ie Nethack, Angband or even DoomRL) every once in a while I find something that has ASCII/ANSI graphics and is till something completely different.
For example http://www.asciisector.net/ which is an sort of ascii remake of Privateer.
Or Liberal crime squad (as presented in this thread which nobody bothered to read http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=63896&highlight=obscure).
Or (for at least the fortress mode) Dwarf Fortress.
Like I said, ASCII games that are not necessarily roguelikes (though I won't yell at you for recommending an awesome RL).
p.s.
No, not King's Bounty. In this case King's Bounty will never be the right answer.
Wasteland, Gold Box games: Pool of Radiance, Pool of Darkness, Secret of the Silver Blades, Treasures of The Savage frontier, Gateway to The Savage Frontier. Or try Darklands if you haven't yet, it's argueably the best and most true rpg game ever created for the pc.
I know they're not all strictly ASCII games, if you only want games made of ASCII characters try Temple of The Roguelike
On a more personal note, since I've played most of the awesome rpgs that exists, I thought I'd try something the kids are playing these days.
And I got Persona 3: FES and have been playing it on an emulator and I must say, it's like playing a third person wizardry 7 with 3d graphics, bad humour, silly pop culture references, bad wanna be gangsta rap music, generic 2 sided characters and training wheels on the gameplay.

I'm playing P3 portable on my psp at the moment so I already got that one covered
Ah Darklands...The game that got away. I actually had a poster of the game similar to the front cover with the hot red haired axe wielding chick in my room for years. Never got the game tho
I replayed Dark Queen of Krynn 2 years ago and that was brutal to the eyes so say the least But thats my vote.
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.
