Its simple, you sign into steam minimize that, install disc from shop. it then does a few pre install files for steam to get it installed. It then installs the game from disc. when done if any updated to do it will do so through steam. DONE.
IF you cant remember your steam login or retrieve its details then well.. you know ? lol..

may be.
but is not an intuitive system, so i don't know where to minimize and don't know how to select the "install from dvd" option, if there is some.
i have to remember lots of things, and my steam data is not among the relevant ones. plus, they have -like every other online service- a "retrieve lost pass" that didn't work, because, nonetheless they knowed my e-mail and told me that my pass has been retrieved, no e-mail from steam did i receive.
other than that, i don't like the steam invasion -steam logo- on my pc... so, i hate steam

your making it too strange here....
Its not intuitive? there is nothing to minimizing a window after logging into steam its same as any other window you have you click the - button
then just install the game from disc, I presume you click INSTALL when it boots up with civ5 or some other button that remotely states do you want to install.
It should then just install, you dont need to do anything just accept and follow through till its finished.. If you then go and look in your steam window that you just minimized there is no need to minimize it btw its not important to, you will see in your games library civ 5..
But if you cant login to your steam account then I can see a problem. you will then, yes, have to make another account but that is the same procedure then. Login, then install game from disc...
