And Then There Were None by Adventure Company, based on the Agatha Christie novel.
Not exactly horror but good non the less.

This. The graphics might be unattractive but the gameplay and the story are golden Smile

Basically the only three adventure games I really love are heavy rain, indigo prophecy(fahrenheit) and dreamfall the longest journey. So you might want to check out dreamfall.

Might wanna check out Post Mortem and Still Life (to an extent even Still Life 2 though I thought that sucked pretty hard)

newer stuff:

Since you mention Gabriel Knight then by newer stuff I would have expected Gray Matter. It's as new as it can get by the creator of Gabriel Knight and so far I'm enjoying it story wise.

Are you two having a laugh? Murder mystery with some horror characteristic. Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy as an examples and you come up with Max Payne?

Anyone suggesting Dreamfall over the original (or at all) has no taste in adventure games. Not to mention is it even murder mystery? Then again I don't remember much about the story when the main thing in my mind back then was: "what the hell is this shit that I'm playing" and then quick uninstall after finishing it.

Name me few objective reasons why is the 1st one so much better than the second one?

Aside from the fact you probably played the longest journey first and that's why it stuck to your memory.

And also since the two games were pretty similar and both reveal parts of the story from the other game, it depends very much on which is the first one you play, as you lose a lot of the mystery, and definitely get bored faster.

I can name you ten reasons why TLJ is far superior:
1. The LONGEST Journey. It is LONG!
2. Story of epic proportions.
3. Superior puzzles.
4. Superior main character.
6. No stupid and annoying combat.
7. No stupid and annoying stealth sections.
8. Music and voice acting.
9. Crow!
10. It is finished! No bloody-fucking-cliffhanger in a game that will never see a sequel!!!

I'm not saying Dreamfall is a bad game, I did enjoy it for the time it lasted, but its nowhere near the quality of TLJ.
