There are several good paradox games, and their idea is good. But they are as bad as the other, if not worse, the state the games are in when released are absolutely insulting bad, absolute crap. Usually at least half a year or an expansion is needed before the game becomes slightly enjoyable. Give it a year or two and the games are usually good, but that is often down to the great community mods.
