Yes thats right, I bit the bullet and installed SP2, mainly due to the up and coming forced install, I thought I would get it over with in a maner I was controlling.

After the initial screaming at it blocking ALL of my applications, I turned off most of the "features" I found that windows blinds was ruined. All of the skins show black area's around most of the skinned area's, I can only assume this is something to do with SP2. Does anyone have any experience with this?

thanks guys Wink!

Have you checked that you are running the latest version of Window blinds. Personally I don't use any skins at all. But I did exchange the explorer shell to Xoblite (Blackbox mod). Try it. It's very neat and fast.
And remember that installing SP2 over SP1 or blank XP is not recommended. Always try to reformat and install a slip stream version of SP2 + RyanVM post sp2 update pack.

razor1394 is right on the money with the slip stream recommendation. I was to lazy however so I did an SP1 > 2 upgrade without much hassle. I did this with WindowBlinds and did not experience the problems you mentioned [sYn]. I am running WB 4.5 now but when I did the upgrade I am sure it was an earlier version. Which version of WB are you using and have you tried different (or newer) skins? I am also assuming that ALL apps are experiencing the problem.

Thanks for your input guys Smile! I imagine this is either a older version issue, or that SP2 turned off some of XP's transparancy effects when it was installed. I didn't have huge amounts of time to investigate last night as I was heading out, thus the post Smile! I may now be in a "Service Pack 2 world" (someone in my house got onto my dual xeon when I was out and edited the desktop to say "I love SP2"..), but at least I still have my dignity.. unless you class me being sick at work due to a huge hang over as losing that too? (Yes, noodles can come out of your nose, if forced.. Neutral)..

man I wish i was working from home today Sad! *updates more websites*

ok, had a play around at lunch and fixed the problem. I was right in thinking it was the trans options. I can't say how annoyed SP2 is making me, it continues to remind me that I have turned its "features" off.. GAH!
