Quote: | Is Resident Evil 5 Coming to PC?
The PC is the game's main development platform.
by Jimmy Thang
June 4, 2008 - Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi has said that Resident Evil 5's main development platform is the PC. When Eurogamer asked Takeuchi why Capcom was showing the Xbox 360 build of Resident Evil 5 instead of the PlayStation 3 verseion at Capcom's Captivate 08 event, Takeuchi said that since Capcom was asked to show RE5 up and running on a console, due to their hardware similarities it was just faster to port the PC build over to the Xbox 360.
While this will surely start rumors of the survival horror game coming to the PC, Capcom told IGN, "We've only confirmed Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 at this time."
Even though the majority of Resident Evils have made their way over to the PC, most of them are ports; often coming months to years later. If Capcom decides to break this trend, you can count on IGN to fill you in. |

Thx to scarfacew3 for spotting it.

Hopefully they'll put in mouse aim.
I'm actually going to be buying DMC4 off Steam just to show support for Capcom opting to start porting their games to the PC. And these ain't shoddy ports either. Woot.

haha yeah, used to be only $0.00 on the PC but I've recently made the change. Funny thing is that the whole 'verb worthy' makes me laugh ... can there really be any game that isn't worth $1.25-$2.00?

Capcom are awesome now, especially with the DMC4 engine, so yeah, I really hope this is true.

Yeah, it's the same engine as the LP engine, but in LP it's nowhere as optimized as it is in DMC4. That's why I prefer to call it the DMC4 engine. They should have updated the engine for LPC.

After watching the gameplay movies. The controls appear to be exactly the same as RE IV.
Don't get your hopes up for mouse aim.

Of course, mouse aim would make this game freaking easy.

It was easy to play RE 4 on my gamepad. Enemies moved slowly anyway, I had plenty of time to aim in the head. Dont really care if there will be any mouse support in RE5 cause gameplay looks so similar.

There was an article on this site about FF13 coming to PC, so i dont trust that kotaku-motaku site. Anyway, RE5 will be on PC someday thats for sure, like most Capcom games ...even Street Fighter is coming to PC

Every other RE mainstream RE title has come to the PC so its obvious that 5 at sometime will land on the PC as well. I can't understand why people sit back and wonder about these things just like the GTA series. Then discussions like this will get console fanboys saying it will never come yada-yada-yada then it will be announced and then they will do a 180 and say "So what we have had the game for X amount of time now" Of course if the game in question is moddable they always end up going on their forums and bitch how unfair it is that PC gamers get mods and they don't and how developers should put a stop to it.

The same scenario as DMC4: PC version is released a few months later after consoles. That somewhat became usual politics for Capcom.

Yeah... five months... that sucked. DMC4 was not that good anyway, mindless clickfest.
I hope RE5 be released within no more than 3 months.

As long as its not a crappy port I'll wait happily for it. Since this time they can't fuck up and give us a PS2 port like they did with RE4 things are certainly looking up.
