Okay yesterday i got myself a new Logitech Comfort headset.

Now it seems my microphone doesnt work well. There is a constant humm and its really annoying for the people i talk with. I looked on the internet and to my surprise a lot of people have this problem. Sad

The only sollution that seems to work for me is when i press a finger at an empty usbport or when i touch my computer case.

While i never had any of this problems with other headsets im sure the fault here is my headset.

My question however... how can i simulate a hand on my desktop?? For the meantime off course Wink

Edit: Double checked... no problems with my creative headset.

try using a different socket for your pc (or just rotate the plug).
If this doesn`t help, you can try to earth your case - connect it with a blank heating pipe or similar with a copper cable.

Yeah i did all kind of different settings... the headset itself is USB tho.

The problem only stops when i make contact with my case and the problem with this logitech headset is all over the internet so my computer is fine. Gonna try to find some copper then Smile

That wouldnt work,

ALL grounds would have to go to a central point to reduce any noise etc, so basically anything connected inline with the pc usb stuff etc all would need a proper feed to a central point, just cause it slots into the mainboard or such does not mean you can just usually use one earth from where the board screws to the metal case..

Any audio issues with loss in leads or anything like that due to shitty shielding and so forth is even harder to eliminate to get a proper ground if its shoddy and needs a proper earth point and not an electrical socket one Very Happy

cheap build quality or lack of care when assembling any product can cause the issues. I have a logitec usb set btw and its got very good audio and no problems with pick up or such.

A good example is output RF thats a bugger to earth properly.. Shouldnt be none of that perse' but just saying a good earth is critical if you got noise or appliances dont function as they should..

See if you find the LAN button I'm sure it would solve your problem.
