Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword [NR]

Description:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword marks a turning point for The Legend of Zelda franchise. The introduction of full motion control enabled by the Wii MotionPlus accessory synchronizes player movements with Link's actions while offering the most intuitive play control of any game in The Legend of Zelda franchise to date.

Features:

* Thanks to the required Wii MotionPlus accessory, every movement of Link's sword matches the player's motion with exact precision. If players motion left to right, Link swings from left to right. The precision play control is applied to enemies as well, as players must contemplate strategy when battling opponents that actively try to defend against attacks.

* Wii MotionPlus puts an arsenal of items at the player's disposal. It offers a multitude of actions with just simple, intuitive motions. Players will try their hand at firing a bow, tossing bombs and using a whip to battle enemies and solve puzzles.

* The game will also introduce a distinct new graphical style perfectly suited to the franchise's fantastical universe, like a painting come to life.

* The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will offer a multitude of new game-play mechanics, giving it a refreshingly different feel from all of the past titles in the series.

God I'm not looking forward to plugging my Wii in and figuring out all the fucking files that are broken or out of date or whatever I'll need to do to get this game running. ;p

Really looking forward to this though. Even though many considered Twilight Princess to be a step back, I couldn't put it down when I first got it.

I just used something called pimp my wii to get a friends updated. From the bit of reading I did on it apparently the "scene" frowns on using it and says it's good for nothing but it worked fine for me. I had to install a newer homebrew channel and neogamma launcher because it quit detecting the usb drive, but no other problems than that. Modded it around 3 years ago and never did anything else so it just got to where most of what he tried to play wouldn't work. Apparently it fixed whatever the problem was, something about those confusing ass IOS files.

Props to Sabin for mentioning it another thread or I never would've heard of it.

You're welcome mate =) Yeah, I've heard the same grumbling about PMW as well.... but you know what? That's probably from the fucking anti-piracy brigade. See, PMW installs EVERYTHING. No messing about. It just "does it" and sets up the lot, even stuff that only has uses for piracy, which is probably why certain people piss themselves over it.

~edit~

Oh and the issue you had with not detecting the USB drive? that would be down to IOS249. Certain versions of 249 (yes, even versions have versions Very Happy) didn't have USB loading - some did. Most people just created different base 249s, such as using ISO57 or IOS56. Later versions of loader apps started to use IOS250 instead, allowing for better compatibility.

All Glory to the Sabintoad! Very Happy

I picked up on that bullshit elitist attitude as well. It was the same guy over and over on whatever forum it was saying the same bullshit. Just because you have 3 people post in 6 months that it "bricked" their wii doesn't mean it's the programs fault. Plus people throw that term "brick" around a lot nowadays. I don't think a lot of the younger crowd understand what it is supposed to imply.

Anyways yea the problem was that IOS file. I didn't know it but I was running an outdated version of pimpmywii at the time and apparently it didn't use the newest 249.

Somehow I don't think Microsoft minds about this game's protection. Laughing

I like the look of this game, looks like a fresco-painting. But I agree, Wii should never go for realistic graphics, it does not have the power.

Well I did too, but I do think the games with more painted/cartoonic look has the upper hand because Nintendo är good with the art direction. I like those the most Smile

It would be cool to see a Zelda in 1080i with crazy graphics, I do admit that.

I hope this works soon with Dolphin. If it is even remotely like Ocarina of Time, it'll be awesome.

Protection etc won't be a big problem, the performance is much more important. I hope "confirmed working" doesn't mean "I see pictures" Very Happy

It's not playable on Dolphin unless you use a REAL Wiimote as it positively requires the MotionPlus, something Dolphin doesn't emulate. Anyone telling you differently is mistaken.

I'm trying to find out if the devteam ever implemented their idea of emulated MotionPlus, but it's slow going. I'm on the very very latest Dolphin SVN and there's no emulated option there, so I doubt they got around to it. From what I can tell, it looks like the option was implemented late last year - but then removed due to it not working.

~edit~

Vid of someone using their real Wiimote and M+ to play the demo. Looks like it's working just fine with some visual issues, though like I said; you need the real M+ addon. I've got my own real Wii anyhow, but no wireless sensor bar (and I'm not ghetto enough to use candles, ffs Laughing) to hook the Wiimote to my PC.
