ACR - Auto Club Revolution

  • Official web page: ACR
  • Publisher: NA
  • Developer: Eutechnyx
  • Genre: MMO Racing
  • Release date: NA
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

We’re also about half way through the development of the most immersive, complete driving experience ever offered in a game environment. While not officially announced (and it won’t be for a little while) the game represents a major leap forward in what you can do with cars in a virtual world.

There’s a good representation of almost all the world’s automobile manufacturers, from the compact you drove to work this morning to the supercar that would make your neighbors weep. There are concept cars – lots of them – and you can drive them now. The people who design these things want to know what the players think. You might feel the hit model from the Paris Auto Show would be perfect if only it had more back seat legroom. Here’s your chance to tell them. Maybe you’ve played with the model in the customization client and found the perfect shade of candy-apple red to compliment the car’s lines. The company is all ears.

The game will also feature the most user-friendly, intuitive User Interface ever found in a driving game. Whether you want to race, upgrade your existing car, look at other players’ garages, show off your best races or just tour what’s out there, this game will give everyone, from novice to hard-core racer, a reason to play every day.

Ok, so, new free mmo racing game, developed by Eutechnyx (Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli). I guess they'll use the same, or slightly modified engine, and for now, it looks like it'll be someting like Gran Turismo, but free, and online. There are no screenshots, but it seems very promising. First of all, they've bought all the possible licences..

Right now, there is a vote on the main site http://autoclubrevolution.com/
You choose 5 cars for every category, and 10 tracks. Also, when you're done voting, you can suggest any car model, or track. Also, by voting, you're automaticaly in beta testing team.

So, any first thoughts?

Sounds sick.

Hopefully this game lives up to it's potential (lolz all car company's in known existence derrr), since there is no PC equivalent to Forza/GT.

@ Neo_McKane
i wont ask you to break an NDA
however im wondering is it a wheel or a controller you use to play racing games
and what other racing games do you normally play on pc

With that info i'll have an idea what you mean by

Well, mostly i use analog on my gamepad. Sometimes, i borrow a wheel from a friend, 2-3 times per month.

Now, i believe i've played every racing game that came out on PC from around 98, till today Very Happy
And, racing games i played the most were probably: Shift, LFS, rFactor, GTR, Race07, F1 99-02, RBR..

If i had to compare ACR with some of the games i mentioned. It would probably be like this:
Handling - Close to LFS. Can't tell for sure since some assists can't be turned off in this beta.
Graphics - Well, it's not excactly Shift like, but it's deffinitely better then in those SimBin titles. Screenshots above are not renders, those are in game screenshots.
Sound - This is, by my opinion, the least impressive part of the game. It's not as bad as LFS, but it can't even get near Shift.

Hope this helps Wink

I thought it was something more arcade-oriented, but if the handling is really close to Live for Speed I might give it a try

Well, it's definitely not forgiving. One wrong moment, too late brake point and you lost the race, almost like that.

From all the games i mentioned, it's closest to LFS. You can really feel if the car is FWD or RWD, and i think it's pretty acurate to real life stats and specs.

Trust me. I'm a HUGE fan of racing games, and every single day i play at least one. And this game is the one i'm really looking forward to. You know, i've played Shift2 for hours..
..but this thing, this little private beta, with two cars and two tracks, is the game i've spent even more hours of playing. I would say, for now, at least 5-6. For me, it's just extremely fun.

Spill the beans Snoopy Very Happy All the impressions that I've read have been extremely positive so far, the only missing thing is the cockpit visual, but maybe it will be implemented in the final version. Can you confirm that?

I tried the beta a few weeks a go. It's very web integrated, a bit of resource overhead. Slow startup times, jerky performance even tho the framerate is solid with max detail on older machines. Lots of micropayment shit placeholders on the web, etc, etc. If you tried NFS world it should give you a rough idea how this looks like. The 'game' part looked rough to say the least. But they sure have some good web designers.

Looks good, at least there are some proper physics that require skills (unlike the usual arcaderp racers). It's f2p but I have the impression that it'll be more a pay2win Razz
