what's a good one that reads pdfs and what not and doesn't require online subscriptions..

is kobo any good?

What other featurea do you want? All of them have built in wifi. Why the fuck would you need keyboard? Looks like you want to get a tablet

Wish i had a CC, would offer to get you a Kindle of your choice.

My Co worker who is a manager of Nook Sales ensures me that you should buy a Nook though.. Easy to root too he says.

base nook and base kindle are pretty much same price...


the one thing that disgusts me about them ebook readers is the slow unattractive page turns Neutral

I got to play with the Nook for a few nights reading Jim Butcher. I didn't really notice any issue with the page turns but honestly I was in a daze most of the time. I tend to wander off into fantasy land while reading Jim Butcher, his books visualize for me.

You get used to the page turns really fast. At first you might still see it, but after 50 pages max you won't even notice it any more. And slow? How much faster to you turn a page on a real book?
