Godfather (The game, by EA.) had a element about taking over stores to gain funding although it was pretty basic.
(Might have been in the sequel as well, I don't actually remember since the game wasn't all that good.)
godfather 2 expanded upon that aspect, made it a bit more complex and gave you more options to manage your "empire".
while the standard gameplay was more of a cheap gta clone, i actually had fun with the whole management aspect.

Was there any other old games simillar to this one? Looked almost like that but with some humour elements, fat gangsters and so on, all I remember that you took over some buildings first and put some tenants there, they reproduced and make new workers
